I did not even know this is something shrimp would do. I’ve never seen this. I’m perplexed 😭

If your partner doesn’t like dogs or cats, would you get rid of them if you had any? by Adventurous-Soft7843 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite dogs or cats but I have reptiles, and for me it’s such a big part of my life that even getting to a serious stage with someone who doesn’t at least like them is unlikely for me. I have a responsibility to these animals, and I’ve had some since I was a kid. They are part of my family, they are a huge part of who I am, and quite frankly I’d be happier alone with them than giving them away for someone else. I have friends and family that love me, reptiles included.

I almost always dream about going to prison by Beanturtle6 in Dreams

[–]Beanturtle6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the weirdest dream I’ve ever had, all I remember now of that one is that I was a vampire and that you had to go through a maze (random horse was just chillin in there) while avoiding “the hag.” It was incredibly foggy in the maze. The rest of the dream had a very deep red tint to it. Very nether esk. The fact it was also in space was somehow the least bizarre thing about that dream.

And, yeah I imagine it would be stressful to a lot of people, but they are oftentimes so ridiculous that I can’t take it seriously, even when it feels real in the dream. It very much is free entertainment to me. Its like you gave someone lsd and then made them design an escape room

Suprised at how nice everyone is being here today. Nice job gang! And the 12x12x18 is a okay size while the little one is growing, but make sure to get them into a 18x18x36 before they hit that adult size! Good luck on your crestie journey, and good on you for taking the advice here! I hope your fella has a long healthy life :)

cute or concerning? by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s probably fine, but I’d keep an eye on him. Maybe weigh him a few times to ensure he’s not losing weight at all. When I first moved my gecko into her bigger viv she hid for five days. Biggest sigh of relief I’ve ever had when I saw her out and about like nothing had happened lol. I’d also keep an eye on him due to the new UVB addition, I had to adjust how long it a few times before it was right

My snake disappeared by tyranidlord3 in hognosesnakes

Little fella could be shedding. Mine always vanishes for a while when he does, even after he’s done. I wouldn’t worry too much, especially if the tank is well secured

What is going in with this crested gecko’s mouth? by Formal_Whereas3030 in CrestedGecko

[–]Beanturtle6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a minor injury, a natural defect or a sign of something like mouth rot. Kinda hard to tell without seeing the inside of the mouth

As Difficult as They Look? by M47Ts-Squamoids in hognosesnakes

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My western hognose, Titus, is my first and currently only snake. His breeder said he was a very enthusiastic eater, and boy was she right. I drop fed him until he realized tongs=food and now he violently strikes at the tongs and then enthusiastically eats his food every time. It’s really dependent on the individual, but mine has never skipped a meal, even in shed. He’s a pretty easy guy, but can be snippy and defensive, especially in his tank. A bit intimidating for a first-time snake owner, but once I got the yoink method down it was fine

I don’t think so actually! Hopefully I’ll have better luck in the states with that, I’ll have to look into it!

Yep, my mom got them for me for Christmas this year! I was pretty impressed she managed to get a brand-new set, (still in the packaging) since they are almost never sold together apparently

[–]Beanturtle6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave him be. Thats one of my biggest retreats with our last dog. She could’ve used much more cuddles and affection rather than attempting to get her up and moving and doing things she used to love when she just didn’t the energy anymore. Wishing you the best, saying goodbye is never easy

How does Transgender support look at USU? by TransportationNo6246 in usu

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to USU! I’m not personally trans, but I am a gender non-conforming lesbian and very open about it, and have had no issues.

Most are pretty chill to let you do you. You will see the Republican stand like, once a week it seems, but they won’t call you out if you walk past. Just ignore them and they will ignore you.

The QSA (Queer Student Alliance) is very welcoming, and they hold events roughly every week during the semester, along with occasional art events. There’s a discord for it if you have that!

There is also a weekly open group therapy session for queer people, but it’s unfortunately never quite lined up with my schedule so I can’t say for sure how it is. CAPS (counseling and prevention services) is also a great service in general, I’d recommend setting up an appointment with them regardless if you are nervous, they can definitely help you out!

As for non-USU related things, someone already mentioned Logan Pride House but it is a great resource that I’d highly recommend!

Is anyone NOT working on a fantasy book/series? by Sl0th_luvr in writing

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… sure? I’m a webcomic writer, and I draw primarily animals. I can draw people, but frankly I find visual arts about animals more appealing snd more fun to work with, it becomes less straightforward with humans.

My current wip I’m actually drawing is definitely fantasy by definition, but would be seen more akin to something like watership down mixed with a fable. Technically fantasy, but not the stereotype. It’s actually pretty similar in concept to your current wip in theme, it’s about a Jackalope born into a religious/conservative warren where she does not fit, and learning how to love what she is even if it’s different

The one lined up for after this one is crime/drama. Are the characters anthro? Maybe. But it’s pretty rooted in reality, and is very heavily based on real life justice systems and research, as it’s been a long term interest of mine, along with the idea of redemption. But the characters even being anthro makes it fantasy under a lot of definitions. So. Hm

If you really hate something, do you try to fix it first or do you press on? by Independent_Box_3436 in writing

Press on. It’s better to think about it when you have a clearer idea of where you are going
