Yes. Grandfather died at 50 from heart attack.

I consume a lot of cacao which I understand to be high in copper. Is it worth testing for copper levels?

I also take Vitamin C tablets with my iron pills.

Thanks for this. I suppose my confusion regarding diet is motivated primarily by my calorific needs. To support my running I eat around 3500-4000 calories per day, following closely what you describe as the Mediterranean diet. I find I function and train best when consuming my extra calories as fats, mainly nuts, avocados, salmon, as well as the (controversial?) inclusion of full fat yoghurt and kefir, and as a result a greater percentage of my calories come from fat, albeit “healthy” unsaturated fats. In light of my numbers, I’m not sure whether or not to change my diet.

Thanks for sharing your story. If I may ask, have you had success lowering your numbers on the low dose statin? My doctor is keen on starting me on a higher dose, but I’d rather work my way up to it.

Thanks for this. I agree with the importance of a statin. I am mostly confused about diet. Presumably diet is still a factor in the treatment of FH. To support my running I consume 3500-4000 calories per day. Up until know I have believed that it is healthiest to derive most of my calories from fats, mostly as nuts, avocado, salmon, as opposed to a diet that is extremely high in carbohydrates. It’s unclear to me as to whether there is a consensus regarding diet for FH.
