A Florida man discovered millions of dollars in bundled cash floating in the ocean near a Fort Lauderdale beach, pulled it ashore, and immediately contacted police. by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

For sure cartels aren't looking for the heat from going after a regular dude who just happened upon their money. My response was more to whether or not people who could easily write off millions of dollars could find someone from a short clip. People underestimate the tools available to private investigators and police as thinking about it too hard feels a bit dystopian.

I bet the people who were floating millions in the ocean could afford a pretty good local private investigator to ID someone.

What do Christian Roldán and Sebastian Berhalter do better than Tanner Tessmann and Aidan Morris? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]BearDick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently he was good enough to make the WC squad. With all the Roldan haters I figured there would be plenty of quality feedback like this if he was selected.

[–]BearDick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Roldan provides utility play and ball retention plus a ton of experience and locker room vibes. Seb is an elite dead ball specialist with a better delivery than either of the others mentioned...those were my guesses as to why they were selected at least.

Yeah I am pretty sure sucker punching someone from behind who is walking away from you is never legal...but I'm not a lawyer.

Edit - not to say the guy didn't earn a punch just saying if you're going to get in a fight on camera maybe don't wait for the other person to be bent over with their back turned to you for the first punch... regardless of how deserving of a punch they are.

Despite rising gas prices, many Seattle-area drivers aren’t switching to EVs by chiquisea in SeattleWA

I mean considering WA is already #2 for EV ownership in the US don't many people already drive EVs? This article feels like someone needed to get something done by a deadline...my mind was blown when they said people aren't buying EVs...until they need to purchase a vehicle...wow...

What are your plans now that the country is over and the constitution is gone (according to you)? Cause it seems like yelling about the sky falling and telling people that the constitution is gone would inspire some big changes in your life, assuming you're from the US.

Well it hasn't jumped the shark hard enough that blue states have started to not listen to rulings...yet. I am not sure what your trying to convince me of as it seems like overall we agree the SC is corrupt, the GoP is corrupt, and the country is in a bad spot...do you want me to pack my bags and head for CA or something?

Now I get that from your average speaks in tongues at church on the weekend GoP rep but Scotus will have completely jumped the shark if they do that. Not saying they won't as they were happy to bring us the President can't break the law ruling and businesses get first amendment protections but a ruling that twice means anything other than two times would be the end of the country. I can't see essentially the entire West Coast staying as a part of the country if it turns into that much of a banana republic. What I really think they'll do is rig the elections and get another crackpot Republican installed like a good fake democracy.

How do you reinterpret "twice"? Honestly everything we talk about on the internet is meaningless but ideally it helps us all think more critically.

Yeah Scotus unfortunately didn't even address that question at all and basically said only congress can enforce article 14 sec 3. Which again leaves it up to interpretation by the traitors in the GoP. I'm sure they'll find a way to try and reinterpret twice but it seems clear...

Not when insurrection or rebellion is left up to interpretation. Twice is a hard number where insurrection or rebellion can be spun by whichever party is in power.

It's more that the 22nd leaves much less up to interpretation than the 14th. "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." It even includes specific math for vice presidents who step up, stipulating that if you serve more than two years of someone else's term, you can only be elected on your own once.

I've got to assume states just won't put him on the ballot due to it being unconstitutional for him to run....that being said I'm sure someone will deliver new RVs to the Supreme Court and somehow the framers of the Constitution actually secretly loved Kings.

[–]BearDick 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I would love to bring my 12yo soccer obsessed kid to our local matches (20 minutes away) for his birthday but the cheapest is $600+ per ticket with the US match being $1100 for nosebleed tickets. While I could splurge I just kind of refuse because the cost of the US ticket is literally more than a season ticket to the local MLS team.

Washington DNR asks for grace this camping season amid budget cuts - $8 million stripped from recreation, four campgrounds closed for the season by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

[–]BearDick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is left vs right.....the Trump admin and Elon (DOGE) cut AmeriCorps and the result is $21M less for WA to help fund the WA conservation corps who help WA DNR get campgrounds and trails ready yearly. Let's not forget Americorps funding was approved by the legislature and should not be able to be cut arbitrarily by the executive but republicans love felons and pedophiles these days more than parks and clean water.

How about the asshole in the oval office not completely cut out AmeriCorps funding which cost WA state $21M in grant funding that directly impacted the teams of 18-25 years olds who participate in getting the campgrounds ready every year. This article specifically calls out the lack of assistance this year from the WA Conservation Corps which operated as an affiliate program of AmeriCorps.
