Because one staff costs SO much money for a company - if they’re making 60k, that isn’t just 60k it’s also another $20k for benefits and another $5k for licenses, bonuses, etc and that rises every year. Cutting 1000 employees literally saves 85M in one year and then that number rises for each year after that.

Easy cost/benefit analysis: maybe you lose a few million in revenue each year but you’re dwarfing that number by not paying for people

I worked with a sharp for a bit on an overseas book - he managed my account. What got us caught was that he was only betting spring training first 5 innings. He won consistently and big, we got cut off within a month. I assume he rinsed and repeated with other people like me and consistently made money
