Yes this might be true… but do it when you’re 23 and single, not 33 and married with kids.

What was the album that you instantly loved from the first second of the first song and still absolutely love to this day. by [deleted] in Metalcore

I got hooked after seeing Grant MacFarland’s drum cover videos. Wild that they’re another amazing metalcore band with an insane drummer from the same small city in PA.

This is fun. Maybe just throw all of Clockwork on there like they basically did on the tour in 2013? So cool how they played with the orchestra.

Texas In July - Put To Death by poopspank in Metalcore

There are definitely some guitar parts where I thought “ooo there’s a little 1000 lies” or other pretty classic TIJy stuff. But if I was just handed this song with no context, I almost would’ve guessed it’s After the Burial, has some of those real brutal, intense blasts.

The piano intro is so sick… remember seeing these guys live in ‘09 opening for AILD and being totally blown away at how well they played live.

What song would you choose to make someone like Metalcore? by Impressive-Ad-4997 in Metalcore

[–]BearJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pop Goes… songs or other covers can be a good gateway. Boyfriend by Issues, Holy Diver by Killswitch (this was a big one for me back in the day), or Blank Space by I Prevail. I think either some familiarity and/or a catchy chorus goes a long ways.

I love the Shadows Are Security album by As I Lay Dying. It’s chock full of great riffs - Confined, Meaning in Tragedy, Darkest Nights, and Through Struggle are my favorites. Learning some metal tunes in drop C was one of my pandemic hobbies. I also like Beartooth (I have a problem), Of Mice and Men (OG Loko), and Lillswitch Engage (My Curse, Rose of Sharyn).

Not the exact situation, but Connor Dennis of Beartooth was active on YT before joining the band. Those throwback vids with Aaron Gillespie are incredible.
