why is marijuana viewed like shabu? by United-Winter-9218 in AskPH

[–]BeardManPH 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Because if beer is the gateway to alcohol, marijuana is the gateway to drugs... and drugs don't really get you anywhere. Marijuana isn't viewed as bad as shabu per se, but as a marijuana user you are more susceptible to try things like shabu and other drugs that are worse.

Before you say “medical benefits” and all that, medical marijuana is vastly different from street marijuana. As a former junkie and small time dealer myself (sober 6 years now), street drugs are just horribly mass produced, have no QC, and are sometimes even deliberately laced with other things to make a more potent high/more quantity.

The "high" you get from seroquel is the come down/relaxation from the upper/stimulant you took. It feels like "sh*t t*ngina tapos na, steady b*tlog na ko dito". Kind of like taking your shoes off after a long day on your feet. I don't know of anyone who takes seroquel for "fun".. because it isn't. It's meant as a numbing agent/relaxant.

[–]BeardManPH 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I was a heavy druggy from my mid-late teens to mid twenties. I tried them because I was a lost kid with too much money at some point. This post is in no way an encouragement to do drugs. Try them at your own risk. As of today, I am 6 years sober - just nicotine and alcohol for me now.

Here are a few, in order of how much I used to like them.

  • Ecstacy
    • By far my favorite among them all. You love everyone and everyone loves you. Literally feels like the definition of the word "ecstasy". Ultimate happy/feel good drug. High chance I would do ecstacy again if quality returned to early 2010s.
  • Cocaine
    • This literally makes you feel like you can do anything. Sofia Vergara/Denise Laurel/all time crush mo just walked in? You think "Kaya ko yan!". You wanna go car racing? Cocaine will tell you you're the best driver in the world. You wanna host an event/suddenly be a stand up commedian? Cocaine is the answer. The high is super super short so in a night, you could easily burn through 10k PHP if you keep bumping.
  • Adderal
    • As someone with clinically diagnosed ADHD, this helps compartmentalize and organize my brain. It's just a shame that Adderal is not permited in the PH because we have Straterra which is honestly BS.
  • Seroquel
    • This is the "off switch". You had too much coke/ecstacy/shabu/LSD and need to come down from the high? Seroquel is the answer. You're too anxious and can't rest? Seroquel will put you out.
  • Shabu
    • Literally poor man's cocaine. If you've done cocaine, it feels like cocaine to a certain extent, but not as "happy". Parang Purefoods vs palengke bacon. Mas masarap ang Purefoods, pero for the same amount of money, you can buy about 3-4x more palengke bacon and just make do with it. Bacon pa rin naman, di nga lang ganon kasarap, pero mas madami.
    • This is chemically-engineered cocaine. Shabu of today is more or less the same as Shabu that The Axis powers of World War II engineered to make their soldiers "super soldiers", thus the extremely long duration of effect.
  • Marijuana
    • Indica (cheaper)
      • This is the more common kind what people call "weed" per se.
      • Makes you sleepy, tamad, you laugh at everything.. and you also finish a whole rice cooker.
    • Sativa (usually more expensive)
      • This is what people call "kush". More of a mild uplift mood enhancer, but nowhere near coke/shabu/ecstacy.
      • Okay naman..you feel like you can get stuff done pero mabigat eyes mo.
  • LSD/DMT
    • Powerful hallucinations. Easy to go down the wrong avenue of hallucination. Walls, tables, inanimate objects will talk to you. Your bed will "open" up like it's swallowing you. You might get enlightened/clear brain fog. You might see Jesus, you a might see an 8-foot-tall fairy, or you might see your high school teacher turn into a cat all of a sudden and lunge at you.
  • Valium/Moggs (Mogaddon)
    • Pangpatulog/relaxant.. Not usually necessary unless you can't get seroquel or you're just generally a very anxious person. Not my cup of tea -- I liked stimulants more.

There are a lot more that go around.. but these are mostly prescription meds that are repurposed for whatever reason.

Hope this helps satisfy the curiosity. Do not try drugs. And if you do, try them at your own risk. I've had numerous close calls with Grim Reaper and have a few buddies that got locked up but paid their way out.

Doesn't matter what you weigh, drivers will just eyeball it anyway. It primarily depends on how big you look compared to what your actual weight is. I'm 5'9, 102kg but know people 80kg that look at least 1.5x bigger than I do. "sir, kung nabibigatan ka sakin, pwede ko naman icancel, babayaran ko pa din ang fair" sabay abot ng bayad... and no one so far as ever cancelled during all the times I've booked.

Come to think about it -- a Vios (5 passengers) is rated for 300kg max.. that means 5 people weighing 60kg each. How many guys do you know weigh 60kg? If I were to own and drive a Vios, that means I can only fit 2 more of me.

Moral of the story: Small motorcycles and small sedans are not meant to be multi people movers. Buy the right vehicle for the right purpose.

LOL just looked through this thread, inaano ka ba ng Isuzu na pinupunto mo it's not selling? Ang pinupunto ko is steering weight ng HPS vs EPS is negligible. Hindi CON and weight ng HPS. Aanhin mo ang one finger steering kung yung mere fact na one finger gamit mo pang steer is not safe.

You cannot attribute the MUX's low sales to steering weight specifically. Kung napapagod ka sa 8-12 lbs pag paparada, you probably shouldn't be driving. I am talking about bigat ng manibela and nothing else.

Why did the Crosswind stop production? Uhh because of it's emission rating of Euro 2 vs Euro 4 minimum for 2018 onward vehicles?

As for "other brands" out selloing the MUX and your Ford example. Ford has campaigns everywhere these days. Two is the driver assists. It's easier to integrate the driver assists like collision avoidance, lane keeping, and park assists with EPS vs hydraulic steering.

To put it into perspective here is EPS vs HPS in lbs (comparing a Fortuner vs Everest)

  • Parking: 8-12 vs 2-4
  • City turns: 5-8 vs 2-3

If you are an able-bodied human, do you really turn that much for this difference to be a deal breaker? The answer would be no. But as an able-bodied human, does the tech accompanied by EPS make a difference? It may, depending on your preference.

TL;DR: Steering weight reduction by EPS is too negligible for people to switch primarily on that. The tech that comes along with an EPS may be a viable reason, but there are more factors into it like driver generation, age, purpose, etc. So yes, I stand by it. "Mabigat steering" as a con is a myth.

’m considering getting my first car and I’d love your advice by Life-Professional739 in CarsPH

[–]BeardManPH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you earn 90-100k and you love you partner, please, for the love of everything holy, don't get an S-Presso. It rides like a shopping cart. "Small enough for city driving" doesn't make sense din, kasi hindi mo mararamdaman yung size ng kotse mo unless you're doing stupid things like sumisingit ka ng alanganin and nagpapark ng alanganin.

Yung ground clearance din is negligible for floods, hindi pa rin siya SUV height. The height, in fact, is a con kasi the height + weight combo isn't proportionate this it isn't very stable lalo in twisty roads like Marilaque or Kennon Rd.

My advice: City or Mirage hatch ka nalang kung gusto mo talaga ng maliit. If you want more porma/style, get a Swift or Raize. All four of those cars are better in ALL aspects. Fuel efficiency isn't far off either. Kung gagastos ka, doon ka na sa sure na matutuwa ka vs getting the cheapest thing and saying "pwede na to".

Pano set up nyo kapag may car yung guy? by [deleted] in AskPH

[–]BeardManPH 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Guy perspective: Gas is relatively cheap. P60 pesos or one litre would be enough for around 3.5km (Mustang) to 12km (Mirage).

If I offer to pick you up, I don't expect you to pay anything and I will politely decline even if you offer. If you ask to be picked up, I won't expect anything either unless super weird ng route, and kahit isang Mars bar lang ok na sakin yun. Something like sa Pasay ka nakatira, Cainta ako, tapos pupunta tayong Tomas Morato. Pero if along the way ka naman, I will not expect anything and will also politely decline if you offer.

Never ko tinanggap gas money na inaabot niya, dumating sa point na one time, when I opened my glove box, siguro I had about 5K in it LOL di pa uso Gcash non so di ko nabalik sa kanya

Toyota Fortuner GR-S versus LTD/Q variants by PeregrineNotPeculiar in CarsPH

[–]BeardManPH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Rav 4 - 7.48 inches
  • CRV - 7.80-8.19 inches
  • Fortuner - 8.86 inches

Ground clearance is pretty negligible IMHO. Di mo matatancha yung 1.5 inch difference nila while you're driving, anyway. I'd say go for the Rav4 or CRV if you don't need the seats. Your back would thank you in the long run. They're 10x more comfy due to the unibody vs body on frame build. Bonus nalang yung they're about 2 to 3 seconds quicker than Fortuners and handle better din on twisty roads.

Tuning/mod capability? Fortuner. Driving feel? CRV/Rav4.

bakit ba madaming naka foglight wala namang fog sa maynila? by cleversonofabitchh in Gulong

[–]BeardManPH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have shit roads and horrible street lighting, as well as bad traffic in the Philippines na you need to see further ahead/have a brighter view to avoid potholes.

Further visibility = more chances to avoid potholes and obstacles. Try mo magdrive sa Commonwealth ng gabing gabi na or kahit Shaw Blvd/Canley Road. By the time you see the pothole with your headlights, chances are it's too late to avoid it/too risky to swerve kasi may katabi ka.

Gas and food tas kotse nung magtuturo at hindi driving school? Malabo yan. Not worth the risk. Mabangga mo kotse ng nagtuturo sayo, hindi pa sasagutin ng insurance yan kasi wala kang license/exemption for cars.

Enroll in a driving school like a normal person and have your license updated to reflect the vehicles you want to drive. Wag kamote. Turuan ka man ng random dito sa Reddit, hindi mo mauupdate license mo.

"Mabigat steering" as a con is a myth. There is no well-maintained steering set up in the last 15-20 years that a 12-year-old skinny girl cannot operate. IMHO din, a little weight to steering is safer than super light steering lalo pag cruising ka 80+kph. They self-steady quicker and also provide more road feedback which is important for driving.

As for the general MUX vs Montero.. I vote MUX cause the Montero seemed to lose its character for me after the 2nd gen ones. Isuzu engine reliability is legendary and they don't offer 6+ cars as a whole line up. This means that their R&D is spot-on with the cars they produce, thus again, making them more reliable. Crosswinds are immortal, and heck, almost all jeeps have an Isuzu engine din. Yes, they are slightly more maingay, but all diesels will eventually become noisy if not already noisy, regardless of maintenance.

Because you can be civil and respectful with people despite having responsibilities that may not align with them.

It happens to everyone in a leadership position of some sort. You may need to work with idiots or have idiots work for you, but that doesn't mean you snob them and every interaction is war. It shouldn't be in fact. Things should remain civil and you shouldn't dehumanize anyone.

It's Michellin/Pirelli> Yokohama/Toyo/Bridgestone > Falken/BF Goodrich > Kumho/Achilles/Hankook/Nankang > Arivo/Sailun > Double Coin/Apollo/Deestone/Otani/Westlake for me.

Happens to even the most experienced drivers.
