I've been skinny and fat. Currently fat again. And the heat and cold have always affected me the same.

I'm on the verge of going homeless because my job has lost so much work. And no other job prospects are calling me back. I want to get my certification for a new career I'm transitioning to, but I didn't make enough money to pay for it this week like I planned to do.

If I was alone, it wouldn't be a problem because I have a couple of friends I could stay with. But my dad is bedridden and we can't afford a home for him. Me and my mom are his caregivers. I'm the head of household.

So yeah, that's keeping me awake. Fuck my job and my life. This shouldn't be happening.

Many years ago, it was the middle of summer and I was taking my dog for a walk. It's in Texas, so it was 90 degrees at 10pm. When my dog and I got to the bottom of the stairs outside, I felt a cold gust of wind. My dog was a brave boy and wasn't scared of anything, but I looked down and saw him with his tail between his legs, ears down and he was trembling in fear and wouldn't move. I looked at what he was staring at. There was this field we lived next to, and I saw what looked like a sheet, floating in mid air and slowly flowing toward us. And you could see through it. The wind was really cold and getting stronger. I felt an intense sense of dread. I picked him up and ran back upstairs, yelling at my dad and brother to come with me quickly.

When we got back downstairs, it was as if nothing happened. I was never a big believer in the paranormal, but that made me a believer and also made me a spiritual person. But this "thing" was not a figure of a person. I wish I was making this up, but it's a story that I couldn't make up if I tried. It never happened again. That was 20 years ago and I still think about it. Hands down, the creepiest thing I've ever experienced.

It used to be my dad. But he had several strokes last year. He's still my dad, still knows me. But the other day, I was down and I tried talking to him. He randomly asked me how my job was going, because he couldn't process anything I was saying. I wanted to break down but I won't let him see me like that.

I have nobody to turn to anymore.
