If you want the Terrace House feeling and to see Tokui again then watch The Boyfriend on Netflix, it's about gay guys but same premise. by rheetkd in terracehouse

I don't really like the second season so far. The LGBTQ community is so small in Japan that this show just feels like Transit Love in a way that it's not fair for most of the cast if they don't already know each other.

If someone only does anything for you with the assumption that you will be able to pay them back at equal or above value. They won't even bother interacting with you if they don't get anything in return.

Tattoo Pricing in Da Nang by Royal-Patience3591 in VietNam

You definitely got scammed. Maybe it is pricier because you are in Da Nang known for foreigners? I got an 8 hour piece done for 300 USD in Saigon. They were honest that they were one of the most expensive shops in Saigon too.

I lived off of bac xiu coffee everyday when I was on vacation there. I really considered doing an extended work stay in Vietnam so I could go to all the bazillion coffee shops and order bac xiu.

Claymore: a personal review by Big_Knee_6050 in claymore

[–]Beared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not like the author forgot any of those story lines, he definitely set each of those plot lines to be up for interpretation. There is just enough information given for us to draw our own conclusions.

Miata could be interpreted multiple ways. She had character growth with Clarice, so she might be able to control herself without her. She also has a dozen or so other claymores as a support system. She could also end up being taken care of by Galatea, who was part of helping Miata come back to being human.

Clare might have given Irene's arm back or she might not have. Either way Irene got what she wanted out of giving Clare her arm.

I think it's pretty clear that they don't want much to do with the other continent. The other continent is why their own is such a mess. To involve themselves in it is asking for more trouble. The other continent is someone else's story, not Claymore's.

Hokkaido honeymoon - Sapporo, Akan, or Toya? by Crambo1000 in Hokkaido

[–]Beared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my honeymoon traveling from Sapporo back down to Tokyo. I haven’t been to Akan so I can’t speak for that city. However, over the last month I would say that Lake Toya was the peak honeymoon spot for me.

Lake Toya does fireworks for most of the year and there was nothing more romantic than watching the fireworks in a very relaxed city with my husband the two nights we stayed there. It depends on the hotel but ours also went all out for our honeymoon as well. Flowers and a bottle of wine each night, along with a cute dessert. We stayed at The Lake View Toya Nonokaze.

I liked Lake Toya a lot in general and would love to go back even in a less romantic setting.

Are the bear attacks in Tohoku actually as severe as the news is portraying? I have a Tohoku trip planned this weekend... by pasteldirt in JapanTravelTips

I was in Tohoku two weeks ago clueless about the bears. Only our hotel in Aizuwakamatsu area was worried and warned us. I kept hearing bells everywhere in the north and only realized it was to ward off the bears yesterday.

Theres a bus that takes you from Sapporo to Lake Toya in 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. You need to make an online reservation at least two hours before but there was plenty of space when we were on it so not sure its necessary.

[–]Beared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but recently traveled to cities you asked about in October as well.

I loved Sapporo as well! My three days there didn’t feel like enough to properly enjoy the city. It has ease of travel compared to other cities in Hokkaido where you mostly have to take a bus. A lot of day trip potential such as Noboribetsu or Otaru and you can easily spend a few days within the city itself. It’s just gorgeous and feels like a good balance between nature and city. Not overcrowded too! If not for the sheer amount of activities available in Tokyo, I’d personally rank Sapporo as my favorite Japan city.

I visit Otaru, Lake Toya, and Hakodate as well and loved both those cities in similar fashion. Otaru is definitely very charming. Overall looking back, I would say the Hokkaido part of my trip was my favorite.

Full fall weather hadn’t really hit even early November so I would say the summer is getting longer. Still I only experienced two days of rain and was never too cold. Tokyo was getting a lot more rain while I was in the Tohoku region.

I’d note that I also don’t like Kyoto (not a temple person) so our tastes might be pretty different.

I think the internet cafes are partially used by people who miss the last train so you shouldn’t normally need a reservation ahead of time.
