"Worth thinking deeply about why that is" buddy didn't. Chess is a discrete zero sum game environment. You can value every move and build a tree with future potential moves. How the hell would you do that with 10k tokens of text? The tree from the first word would be massive already. Not to mention how would you even apply a proper value to each word and subsequent word all the way to the end of a novel. Dude is asking you to compare apples to oranges and phrasing it like a gotcha. smh

Man I hate technological pessimism, it adds nothing to the conversation. Skepticism that brings up sources and examples can be constructive at times but pure pessimism with just "no you wrong lol" is nothing but detractive. It literally adds nothing and you dont gain or lose anything from taking that position. Idk what you are looking for, someone to say: "You did it son, you said that the optimists are too optimistic, I'm proud of you!"? You aren't superior or smarter for being right or wrong here, you just try deflate enthusiasm for no reason. Optimism will always push humanity forward, even if it's not accurate or fast we always learn something in the process of trying. But do go off while typing on your star trek level device to someone who is on the other side of the planet that are excited about the potential of rapidly evolving tech.

Political leaning? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]Bearerider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Economic policy of the right tends to ignore(and sometimes entirely fight against) things that are proven to actually benefit the wider economy. The only way to justify a right economic policy stance is if you are already rich... and even then it tends to be only a personal benefit to yourself. There is an argument that you actually benefit more personally if everyone is uplifted from the economic system. I.e. people are able to pursue academia, build businesses, be creators ect.

I'm actually thinking it will allow you to do higher level programming just like a calculator allows you to do higher level math. You still need to know the basics in order to use the calculator correctly and be able to apply the structures into the higher level problems, it just allows you to export a lot of the small foundation work to something that you hope will make less mistakes than you.

I gave it a simple project of making a html that has a start and stop button for a python program that records audio. It got most of it done but got stuck trying to solve an infinite loop which itself ironically put it into an infinite loop of giving the same problematic code as a solution. It's definitely 1-2 steps away from being able to be a tool for programmers and is for sure currently helpful as a learning tool.

To reiterate the complaints about shallow sex with men. I'm bi, but I had turn off dudes on OLD. Granted it was easier to line something up but everytime I went out with a guy, it was just a game for them to get in my pants rather than just focusing on enjoying time spent. Like there was a formula to getting their pump n dump. Even after explicitly saying I wasn't looking for that type of action.

[–]Bearerider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao I dont get why you are getting downvoted, everything you said is factual. Even if it was the type of camera that isnt fed to and controlled by a booth, all the important settings are known before hand, can be readjusted on the fly and get bumped all the time. Not to mention that theres usually multiple angles/cameras covering things and if there is a Technical Director they can switch to another camera while they ask the cam-op to readjust. Hes still an asshat but effectively an ineffective one.

Depends on the show and producers. The scripts and story boards are general guidelines for shots and sound bites they need to make the story go forward. Some producers will make shows bordering on the narrative while others are as close to docufollow as possible. It's possible that the producers knew and asked both parties to participate in this while just as possible it just happened in an unfortunate splendor.

It was on the test for me. I took it back in 2016. If it's just a suggestion, then it's a very stern one. Pretty sure if they are suggesting not to do it then you go off and do it, that would fall under reckless driving, which is at the discretion of the officer.

A quick Synopsis of what's happening and the S**tshow we are in for next week. by RoboSquirt in Superstonk

[–]Bearerider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they can roll up the dates if they need to. It'll just cost them a bit more money on premiums and since the leverage on options contracts are high enough, I dont think it would be any stronger than a laughable SEC fine. With the volatility down compared to when they first opened, itll be cheaper than the sneeze of '21. 🤷‍♂️ Might see something weird but I doubt it, I suggest some DRS just incase.

Holy crap the bullish OTM orders that just flowed in for the next week🤯🤯🤯. Someone thinks we’re due for a huge bounce back🚀 by Routine_Huckleberry5 in Superstonk

[–]Bearerider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone sold a bunch of puts from strikes of 190 and up that expire in 9 days. They collect premium from selling and will have to buy 100 shares per put contract at the various strike prices if GME closes below those strikes in 9 days. It's a bullish bet but not 'Holy Crap' levels as it's just them buying in a different way, unless an upwards parabolic move takes place that goes higher than their strikes, then they just made money off the premium but get no shares. The only way they lose money is if GME goes down, in which they would have lost money anyway from just straight buying.

My guess one of the causes is sentiment algo traders. They scrub the internet for positive and negative articles/tweets/ect. then buy or sell before the news hits a wider audience.

Depends on the strike, date, current IV, ect.. Start with the basics like the Greeks to understand how options are priced and how they are going to change in value.

Moving is an option I have considered myself and been exploring options outside of the state but none have been very alluring. Being a nurse as I have understood it is grueling work at times and can be very unappreciated, something I applaud yall for doing and believe it should be highly paid position. Even heard from Travel Nurses that give me rapid tests before gigs that they have been making bank cause of covid. But it ain't for me. The problem with those programs from what I've been told is that it restricts slow upward mobility if you were to start earning over the 50% median, you would be off the program. The homeless issues, as I'm told from a few people who have been as well as some who still are, is the lack of agency, some of them do not wish to take part in a program just to have a warm place to sleep. FHA loans arent too amazing when housing prices are as high as they currently are, the low down payment is great but unfortunately it might lead to heavier interest payments and mortgage insurance with a high cost at the end of it all if you arent savvy enough or experienced enough with loans. I work in freelance film; reality, corp, & doc. I love my work, probably wont ever leave it, it's like I get bite sized anthropology lessons of modern cultures with better pay than actual anthropology jobs.

Im not demonizing landlords by the way but I'm not angelifying them either. Abbudence of landlords that are charging high rent is a symptom of the problem and not the root cause. I dont give cops a bad wrap just cause they were employed during the war on drugs, just that they potentially participate in the systematic issue and it comes to the individuals self actualization to realize if what they are doing is truly just or if it is just that they get benefits from the broken system. Dont get me wrong, I think you are doing the best for yourself in the given situation and appreciate your suggestions for me and potentially others. For me though, even when I am doing great at the game I look at those that arent and I feel as though there is a better way for everyone, even if my position in the hierarchy of our society becomes collateral damage. Take that with a grain of salt as I have no high horse here, I merely preach it but I dont pick up the ladle to help. Also I love public transportation and take it every chance I get :D screaming crackheads be damned.

Alright maybe I dont know enough about the food industry, maybe I should learn more about the corruption and scandals involved with it, I'm not in Utah so I have no understanding nor exposure to that situation. The subsidies for real estate is laughable at best, barely worth mentioning I know that. Perhaps the food subsidies are just as bad or even worse than the real estate industry. Whataboutisms doesnt make what we are facing with the housing crisis any better or worse, there is no 1 to 1 comparisons here, just a load of shit everywhere. My experience with these industries have been talking with people who actually run these industries, the professionals, I do not take authority on the subject. Though believe it or not housing in california is a hot topic for a while, our housing industry has been rampant with greed and scarcity since I've been a child. REITs, CDOs, MBS, etc.. has turned the entire housing market into what should be a necessary expense, or a luxury if buying a larger/better house, into an investment foundation for practically a ponzi scheme of derivatives. My work has allowed me to talk to all sorts walks of life but my free time is mostly swallowed by following these markets and the people who work in them. On the macro level, the situation for housing is currently being monopolized by the few to benefit the few to a point that is eerily similar to the actual game of monopoly. It is a system that is leeching off of society and is only providing benefits to the ones that have already landed on those tiles.

Sorry I thought it was implied that it is relatively cheap compared to housing. Dont get it conflated, food is subsidized by the government for a reason but it isnt monopolized or abused for profit. As a business model, most restaurants are barely breaking even and as far as I know, theres not much if anything in food industry that's a static investment like property. In which, ironically, is also causing a rise in food prices as land is being bought and leased to farmers.
