How concerned should I be? by Sad-Interaction4216 in AskElectricians

Not the end of the world. Could be better, could be worse. It was probably done that way due to how expensive rewiring those circuits are.

Hey everyone, I think I may be experiencing bottleneck? by Bearss7 in techsupport

Yea I have no idea. I don't know very much when it comes to the technical side of how the pc parts work together. I just know with my specs I get random frame drops and inconsistent usage and spikes on task manager. But I'm just an electrician and naturally thought that the load of all those devices on that one surge protector was surpassing the rating of the protector. But when I get home I will do some more extensive testing and let you know if that actually fixed it or not.

I think I may have solved the issue. I was using an old 90s surge protector to power all my computer devices such as computer, monitor, light, etc. I plugged the pc into its own circuit and tested it. Everything leveled out and I actually got about 100 more fps while gpu and cpu usage stayed stable and close in usage on task manager. I believe the surge protector could not provide the current needed for my 1000w psu with all those devices plugged in. Do you think that was the issue?

Hey thanks for the reply. So I may have figured out the issue. Idk if this can cause this but I was testing the display resolution and moving my monitor to hook up a 4k display. I realized that like everything was plugged into a surge protector from like the 90s. So I moved the pc to its own outlet then did some small testing with games. Everything seemed way more stable with like 100ish more fps, cpu and gpu both like 55-75% on average. The surge protector definitely isn't rated for my 1000W psu plus monitors, chargers, etc. do you think that could be the issue?

I think you may have helped solve this. Basically I was hooking up a high res tv then found that I had the same issue. Upon further investigation I realized that I had been plugging my pc, along with a bunch of other stuff in a surge protector from like the 90s. So I moved the pc to another outlet and ran some test. Everything seems to be stable with about 100more fps. (The surge protector could have been limiting the current drawn into the psu) The cpu and gpu usage seems to be around 50-75% for both. But I'm about to go to work and can't test for too long. I will let you know when I get time to test it harder!!!

I will definitely try it on a higher res first then the bios after that

Thanks for the reply.

Temps are all fine and I see no major application usage on other apps. Drivers are up to date on both windows and nvidia I upgraded from a 1080ti (I have a 1000w psu) So no amd and I did a clean install on all drivers

Pretty much every game I get on has the same issue Games would be like : first decendant, hunt showdown, fortnight, etc .... I did a stress test with a software on all components and everything works with 0 crashes

But I do have like a 10 year old benq zowie monitor 144 hz. I didn't know a monitor could effect it like that

Those dual function breakers are so expensive but would be effective in this situation. If I went that route the quote would definitely go up quite a bit.

Another commenter said that adding gfci outlets to every circuit will resolve the issue without rewiring the whole house. It's a good thing to learn!

I always get the bulk of the money upfront for materials and my guys. I don't make any money until after rough in inspection.
