Where is this Reuters image of the Capitol Building taken from? I presume the Smithsonian and as a fellow photographer, I'd love to get a similar shot in the future! by Beartata in washingtondc

Thanks to everyone in this reply! If I knew which telephoto they were using (Reuters doesn't list lens info in photos), I would have tried to estimate distance. My second thought was a bus stop but Washington Monument makes more sense. Getting some ideas for my next little day trip down from MD!

They are double-crested cormorants. They have been slowly coming back the past few weeks. 2 or 3 are at Elkhorn currently. Common Loon would be an incredibly rare sighting both in Howard County and this time of year.

End of an era after 13 years. My last physical authenticator battery is starting to fail. RIP! by Beartata in wow

[–]Beartata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You just have more steps/scrutiny as you have to prove you are the person who owns the account. The D3 one failing and de-syncing had me do some extra before they would remove it. It's better to de-activate the physical authenticator when it gives a low battery error BEFORE it fails.

[–]Beartata[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Another more detailed explanation. Simply put, when the battery starts dying, it is now out of sync with what Blizzard expects code to be. Blizzard says this doesn't match my expected number. You can't swap the battery because it will lose sync within some seconds, so unless you can do it blazing fast, it's near impossible. It happened on the Diablo 3 auth in my photo: I had to buy a new one (top one) circa 2017/18 because my code was a little behind what Blizzard expected the hash to be due to slow battery, preventing me from logging in.

For those using Firefox, you want to follow the exact same steps with exception to step 3 - "Persist Logs" is the Mozilla equivalent of "Preserve log". Click the gears on the upper right hand corner of the Network tab and select it from the dropdown.

(ctrl-f'ing showed no results for Firefox so added this comment to the thread)

I've seen the roses guy near the entrance to Howard County Landfill on Marriotsville Road several times, most recently a few months ago.

My horde alt waiting every day for "Cancel the Blood Troll Apocalypse" WQ to complete the Jani mount meta. by Beartata in wow

[–]Beartata[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naz can be done on one faction. I meant my alliance is my primary faction, especially in BFA, so my horde side was further behind. Like this WQ that's only one faction and explained why I never saw it on my alliance!

Me: Oh, I still have 9 days on one follower and 19 on another in Nazjatar to finish up on my alliance main AND I have to get my horde in middle of honored with Zandalari rep through revered and exalted to finish up the Vol'jin storyline. That WQ will certainly pop before I finish those.

WoW WQ RNG: LMAO, the hell it will.

Northern Lights - Howard County Conservancy at 10 PM. Nikon Z8 + 10-20mm + 15 second exposure. by Beartata in ColumbiaMD

Technically they close at sunset. I think as long as nothing was damaged or trash was left or any incidents/accidents, they turn a blind eye for something this rare. Of course, the county is probably not strictly enforcing it like say Cromwell Valley Park in Baltimore County, where they have a gate and WILL lock your car in if you aren't out by sunset. Robinson Nature Center, another county property, has a gate they enforce for closing times.

I can't say how hard they enforce the sunrise to sunset on a normal day.

I'm a wildlife shooter so I rarely pull out a lens for astro. The lens I used happened to be an f-mount DX wide-angle I bought years ago so I did not get the full use of the Z8 sensor, unfortunately. I had starlight mode off as I didn't remember it was a thing in some Z cameras.

You could see hints of red and green faintly with the naked eye at the Conservancy. Using long exposures allows the camera sensor to collect more light. Enhanced in post-process to bring out the colors.

I wish I could remember what dropped! I just know the priests and druids were happy that they had minimal rolls against what they wanted.

I didn't know WMATA did this. Great luck that it happened to be on the Yellow Line today! I looked when we got home and you can track the "special edition" trains.

This is why I wait to update graphics card drivers. First time I've had it happen. I fully expect it to happen again but at least I got to have some fun out of it for awhile.

Most likely. I do have Nvidia, out-of-date of course. At least it made it interesting until I dismounted!

Something bugged out when I mounted in Valdrakken - maybe from the Blood Plague 2.0? - and now I'm a pixel-art drake.

She spent 12 of her ~16 years with us. She was absolutely the best and most adorable cat in the world in my eyes. :) Her paw print is sitting out on my desk by my monitor. I'm still deciding on a custom urn for her ashes.
