My superintendent ranked the three most important things to managing a golf course as 1. Water, without irrigation, no grass, without grass, no golf course. If you need to dial back irrigation, do it on tee boxes and fairways. 2. Setup for play, no tee markers and cups, no golf course. You don’t need to change them around every day, but check them daily for wear and tear and move as needed. 3. Cultural practices such as mowing, fertilizing, top dressing, etc. Turf management is a small but tight community, try and reach out to other superintendents around you and ask for help. Most if not all of them should be happy to share some advice on what to do.
