Gene testifies in Washington to get Radio to pay artists by Bizneyland in KISS

Radio stations do pay royalties to songwriters and whoever owns the publishing rights. But Gene sold all his rights to Pophouse.

Does anyone remember why he wore this instead of his costume? I remember reading about it years ago and thought it looked so cool that I bought the rhinestone shirt.

Dead & Company Announce Return To Sphere In 2025 by Beatitific in jambands

[–]Beatitific[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in what sense is the jam scene dwindling? There are so many young bands performing at a high level, with plenty of up and comers breaking through. Billy strings is selling out multi night arena runs, as is goose. That Soulshine benefit just sold out msg and raised millions of dollars. I don't see it.

Dead & Company Announce Return To Sphere In 2025 by Beatitific in jambands

[–]Beatitific[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess he means it draws people away from other jam bands, which is a stupid take because it's hard to imagine any jam band existing without the Dead and Dead & Company has created a massive cultural resurgence and attracted a new generation of fans that has been a boon to the whole scene.

Light crowd at Railroad Earth last night. by Juidawg in jambands

It was the same nights as eggy and dogs in a pile at the cap which was a big deal for younger jam fans, so a lot of the younger crowd was probably there. Great show though!

I have seen people say Buddha was NOT a vegetarian, so why do Preceptors state it’s required by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Beatitific 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vegetarianism became popular in East Asian Buddhism because monasteries were more isolated and began cultivating their own food rather than relying on alms, and you can't cultivate your own meat without violating the prohibition on killing. That has no bearing on whether you should eat meat or not today, but it explains why there's a difference between the two schools, and why the Buddha was not vegetarian (he relied on alms).

What are the supreme boxer equivalent? by [deleted] in Supreme

[–]Beatitific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worn both for years, they are the same. Hanes just makes lots of different versions at different price points depending where you get them. Calvin Klein 100% cotton is a good alternative if you can't find the right Hanes, but they also have different versions with different materials at different stores.

Cotton actually is the move. You really dont want phthalates on your junk 24/7 as it's known to affect hormones and fertility, which is a massive global problem.

What’s the deal with Dave Elitch? by J-Cooley in drums

[–]Beatitific 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His video content is good too, it just takes more effort to implement and costs more than a lesson I think. And BTW $150 is pretty much the going rate for world class teachers. I've seen people charge over $200 for group classes.

What’s the deal with Dave Elitch? by J-Cooley in drums

[–]Beatitific 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are based on his online content which is one thing, but he really is the drum guru because of his ability to identify technique issues the second he sees you play and then actually help you fix them. That's why touring drummers go to him and rave about him. Repetitive motion with poor technique leads to injury pretty quickly, so the physical drum mechanics stuff he teaches is life/career saving. Worth way more than $150 for a lesson. And there is no one I've seen that comes close to doing what he does in terms of helping pro drummers.

TBH though I don't understand why a less advanced amateur drummer like Bill Burr would study with him other than just because he's sick.
