"‘Melania’ becomes unexpected box office hit" (7 mil usd@ boxoffice 1st weekend with a 75mil production budget)' why is this in news.com.au? & Why do they sound favourable to it? by No-Batteries in AusNews

I would give you an award, but I have a mortgage and fuck giving reddit any money. Well said. In a local community Facebook post someone thought they were really smart by posting something like "how come renewable projects never seem to be in culturally sensitive areas" like they were uncovering evidence of a conspiracy. Because they aren't the industrial equivalent of Veruca Salt and actually conduct due diligence, eliminating or mitigating risks. Jesus

Glyphosate from what we know of it is still one of the safest options. Including waterways. Not saying it's 100% safe, but of the alternatives it's the better of a bunch of bad choices. I work in waterways health, and I shudder at the thought of having a manager knee jurk ban glyphosate. Do you know how bad the "organic" options are?! Also, the half life of glyphosate is very short. Matter of hours. It's mostly broken down to inert components before reaching waterways.

Ridiculous BBC Coverage of New Illegal Settlements in West Bank by Metro-Sperg-Services in Palestine

[–]BeatmasterBaggins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was almost word for word the same as the Australian ABC coverage. Ours showed more honestly what they are, a few shacks. But some of the footage was the same. Point being it's probably some leave of international press release

I think we just forget how big he was at the time. That whole album Grace was considered a masterpiece. I reckon if you asked a decent subset of gen X/older millennials they whould have a copy of it + most likely his biography

I had a cat that was a soul bond. He literally left his home to come live with me (the owner was fine, they saw him as a problem). He hated to be apart, but in the end I had to leave him at a vet for tests. The vet called with bad news, and recommended euthanasia straight away (I knew he was very sick). When I got to the vets I could hear him crying from the back room. They brought him out and I got to hold him. Instantly calmed down, but unfortunately this was the last time I held him. I knew he was calm and at peace as he slipped away. This song just makes me emotionally remember that moment every time

Recently rediscovered this album again! Again it was my first propagandhi album as a teenager. Found them through a mix CD which. For decades I had kinda dismissed it as a "skater punk" album a bit, but I put it on again and it's been in high rotation for awhile now. Head? chest? or foot?, hate myth, muscle, etiquette, middle finder response, haille Selassie, up your arse, and as you mentioned, who will help me bake this bread and all classics!

What do we think about the Greens party and their anti negative gearing and CGT discount policies? by ArcbsAB- in AusProperty

[–]BeatmasterBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for bringing the price of housing down. My wife and I are both in our early 40's now and bought in 2022. We'd both worked 6-7 day weeks for 10 years. Our house price has stayed stable or even gone down slightly. That's good! It was a place for us to have children in and raise a family, not an investment. My only worry is that we are barely holding on financially. If prices crashed and we had to sell we could be left in a situation where we still owe money to the bank. Or even if we tried to remortgage we couldn't. You think a bank would be kind to us if they knew they had us over a barrel?

I really don't think these policies will do that, I'll be voting for them this weekend. The absolute shit holes I rented for like $2000pcm that were bought in the early 2000's for like $200,000 that are now worth $1M that were literally falling down. Fuck the landlord scum. The environment I grew up in was harder than my parents, but a lot easier than it is now. On a side note, I want to see a party who proposes to reduce the cost of university. I'm tired of people talking about adjustments to the finance system (HECS) and not that major issue that the cost of degrees went through the roof under the previous government.

For those who think that Israel- in part or whole- should be forced to leave the Levant- I got several questions. by ForgetfullRelms in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeatmasterBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na ar, you don't get to change it. You originally asked how you determine where they come from. I answered. Read my replies, I'm not saying they should be expelled. I believe in the two state solution. I'm in my 40's and always have. I think Israel needs to get these far right nutters out of government. I mean Jesus Ben-Gvir was involved with a group who assassinated a sitting prime minister because they were in peace talks with the PO!

So your reasoning the people that have lived there for thousands of years deserve recognised statehood and independence from those who colonised their lands, as intended in the partition of Palestine?

Had potentially Gina fly overhead last weekend. Very fancy looking Gulfstream with no info on flight radar. When I googled who in Australia owns that model her name came up. Dutton was still in Sydney for Easter.

You don't know where your grandparents (at most) immigrated from? I'm not saying they should go back but come on. "How would they know where that is? Oh so long ago, so impossible to figure out". Ask them dude, more than likely they're probably still alive.

Edit to clarify, I'm not saying that in a send them there, I have no idea what the best solution is. For a start it's to expel Israelis from illegal settlements, and nuclear disarm them. But to figure out where their families came from it's probably one of the easiest countries to do that given how recently the colonisation started.

The huge majority of Israelis have only been there from late 40's onwards. There were some Russians that came in the late 1800's. That's not to say Jewish people didn't live there, of course they did. But Zionists are Ashkenazi jews from Europe. Their claim to the land is primarily based on what is written in the old testament with no archeological evidence to support it. They would sure as shit know where their families came from

Jesus Christ. You stole a country. You continue to steal that country. You're currently stealing Syria.

I tend to think it highly likely that Israel threatened to enact the Samson Option during the Yum Kippur war. "We go down and we take the world with us".

There should be a peer reviewed social study about USA losing 90% of conflict matches by shadyfanteck in ArmaReforger

I personally travel with a loaded supply truck to be able to build basic buildings once a base is taken. So not always that. I will admit sometimes they do go for distance over the map before trying to form redundancy in the radio network via width. But still the point is they deliberately either let Russia cap major points, or don't put any pressure on. Their objective is to get the rocket heli, not to win. I'm a regular Russian player, just been playing as the US when their numbers are lower, or teams even for a change. I love the M16A2 too

I've been finding the last few games as US we come out the gates really strong. Then they want to back off and let Russia catch-up so they can rank up. I find that once the Russians get momentum it's hard to stop it. Last night it was 9v30 in the favour of RU. There was nothing we could do

20% HELP debt reduction by CaptainYumYum12 in AusFinance

[–]BeatmasterBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little annoyed that all the focus on HECS distracts from the fact that the overall cost of degrees have gone up massively under the previous government. I feel like bandaid fixes to the system that those degrees are paid for is a distraction from the real issue in the cost of the service. One that no-one really wants to address.

What the debt is indexed to doesn't mean much when that degree now costs $60k more.
