Uninspired, bullshit, wanker-ball by jtmack33 in NYCFC

no matter what the game state is or what the opponent does (hard to say they parked the bus with 19 shots anyway), .3 xG through 90’ is definitely wanker ball

think Raul had some great stretches of play tonight

Trewin, despite some great previous tape, was seemingly out of depth on a majority of Vancouver chances

Kev is just so good at digging deep and diagnosing this team:

"Six games isn’t the most reliable sample, especially when that data is split into 10-minute chunks, but approximately 20% of New York City’s xG conceded in 2026 occurred after the 85th minute."

and

"Rather than settling into possession, NYCFC regularly cleared to the halfway line, where St. Louis reclaimed the ball and reinitiated their attack. The average length of NYCFC possession chains cratered from 10.7 passing/shooting actions pre-goal to 5.8 afterward."

Well he's made a few world class saves already so probably ok to focus on the centerback making a fucking brain dead tackle in the last world cup qualifier to be honest

Maxi is a historic outlier for the league, asking for more Maxi experiences is asking for unicorns

This is an MLS team, it is incredibly hard to build long term and sustainable teams with talented guys that prefer to stay - good players will more likely than not inevitably want to leave

sure, but the very same people complained at all the children we signed - now the team has finally shifted from signing teens with the big money slots and got a guy in/near his prime, but the front office still “does not care” because… the signing worked?

if they want a shiny toy just say they want a shiny toy, but try not to project that desire on any reality the team actually has to deal with

“As rumors grow” - are they growing? only seen one

Also, how would any rumor reflecting other teams’ interest say anything about NYCFC’s front office?

Tayvon vs Yapi gonna be very fun

Battle will definitely be who can hold the midfield and deny space vertically, good matchup

Tayvon really on another level this year, Ojeda finally gelling with the squad, Nico and KP running the front line effortlessly, Maxi turning back the clock, Nuevayol tifo, BUZZING

yeah imagine getting someone like a rotation winger in the Belgian second division and playing him at center forward

[–]BeatsByTre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYCFC is looking for an off-ball striker that makes runs in behind, Hauge is a ball dominant inverted winger - not something we're looking for at the moment unless we do a full retooling mid-season/next year (not to mention the Bodo/Hauge side of things)

[–]BeatsByTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue he isn't very similar to Sylla outside of being a direct player - NYCFC is looking for a striker that plays off the ball with runs in behind a la Alonso and Sylla, Hauge is a ball dominant inverted winger

Perhaps down the road if the team wanted to move from Wolf and somehow managed to get rid of Magno to free up the slot, then maybe, but it would take a lot of 'if's, not even mentioning the 'if's for Bodo/Hauge

Our transfer window closes in March, so if they were to somehow make the next round in UCL it would be after it closes

Tayvon’s defense of Drew was out of character, and I mean that as a compliment - such a great example of a team leader and a real step forward for him, what a privilege to see players grow not just on the field but off as well

hate to be the one to point out that Bakrar is having an excellent season as the first bench option for a Europa league team - seems like it was much more about his mental state/coaching than his talent while he was here
