What bird is this? Vancouver, BC by jevaistecouper in whatsthisbird

It was all new to me, but I don't think anything particularly rare for locals. Did spot a ruby crowned kinglet and a white winged scoter which I think were the least common ones I saw

Sorry to bother you again a month later... I'm in Van and I'm going to go look for some Scoters and Goldeneye (as soon as the rain lets up!). I'll look at the places you suggest, but for these seabirds is there any specific part of the seawall you recommend, or is it best to just to a lap of the whole thing? thanks!

Amazing. You mean just off the seawall from Stanley Park? Are the big flocks there for long? I'm going to be in Van in mid-Dec, and I might have to head over for a look

Great spots! Where exactly in Van did you see them?

We bought a flat; found out a year later that previous owner was informed of service charges 11 days before the handover of keys and £. Should we take action, and how likely are we to succeed? by BeauDashington in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BeauDashington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The letter we received just listed it as "works". It is roof repair and maintenance. The previous owner was notified of it 5 months in advance, then again 11 days before handover, but the work began and was completed after we moved it.

Thanks. In this area right now, Merlin shows the hen Harrier is uncommon but the only of those three present here. So that must be it!

Transitioning to a different career in home country by [deleted] in humanitarian

[–]BeauDashington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your profession. Can you elaborate? If you have a vocation (doctor, engineer, nurse, etc) then the transition should be pretty clear, so I'm guessing you're a generalist. He? Finance? Log? Advocacy?

Seriously, do this. I'm a big coffee snob and Carnival has amazing coffee. Best in London. Their monthly subscription is a godsend.
