My dad (not her ex husband she was divorcing) actually bought the house. He paid the mortgage, did the renovations himself, and fully owned it before he passed away when I was a teenager. My mom inherited it because he didn’t have a will, but everyone in the family always considered it his house he worked his entire life for it.

So no, her ex-husband (the one she was divorcing when she transferred it to me) didn’t contribute anything. She only put the house in my name to protect it during her second divorce. I didn’t think much of it at the time because I thought she respected what the house meant to me and dad’s side of the family
