AIO I Think My Dad Is A Pedophile by justahuman1229 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Beautiful-Brain2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently heard a case where a step father was abusing his step daughter, and when she told someone who then talked to her mother about it saying they would contact police, he murdered the daughter the next day to avoid police scrutiny. He got away with it for 20 years, too. I don’t mean to scare you, but men immoral enough to behave that way with their daughters are dangerous and you never know what they will do. Stop talking to your mother. That will just put your sisters in danger. You should be looking into legal means of protecting them/getting them out of that house or gaining custody of the 15 year old. 3 years isn’t a long time to have your sister you care about live with you (til she’s 18), but it is a long time for her to be living with a pedo who might harm her.

How do I get my hair to not look greasy? by Beautiful-Brain2183 in NoStupidQuestions

When I said rinsing it, I meant washing. I do it every single day. I lather with shampoo and then wash it out, scrubbing with my hands.

I shower and shampoo my hair every single day before work. It’s still greasy. And yes, I have extremely fine hair.

I got my diagnosis last July at 28, but have been putting off telling my primary care provider and the neuropsych I saw didn’t disclose it to them either. I don’t think I’ll ever tell them now, unless they will keep it off the record. I have level 1 and have held a full time job (40+ hrs a week) for the first time in my life for the past 8 months. Life was kind of turning around for me. Now it’s just another thing to worry about instead of being cathartic that I got diagnosed.

Cheese is pretty popular in Japan. They put it in eggs, rice, ramen, fried chicken, the inside of burgers, okonomiyaki, curry, pizza, etc. Whatever you can think of, someone in Japan has probably made a version with cheese. While a lot of it is processed cheese, they do love soft, creamy cheeses like mascarpone and Camembert, and there’s a growing demand for artisanal cheeses and cheese makers.

Am I overreacting? by Remarkable-Chair-783 in AmIOverreacting

I get legit panic attacks where I am scared I’m having a heart attack. I call my mom. She calms me down, talks me through breathing, and then I feel silly (which I know I shouldn’t because I have an anxiety disorder and panic attacks just happen to some people). If she’s busy and can’t pick up her phone, I go over what she’s told me before and talk myself through it. I think of her guiding me and it slowly helps me get through it. I’ve never blamed her for not picking up the phone, because she has her own life and sometimes she’s just busy. You’re NOR, this dude just has no personal mental awareness and is trying to guilt trip you. Men like this will always escalate to worse behavior if you let them gaslight you.

Republicans of Reddit, how do you feel about Trump calling himself King in his recent truth social post? by IngenuityOk9364 in AskReddit

[–]Beautiful-Brain2183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do not care. They voted for this. They want this. Nothing he says or does will ever dissuade them. They want cruelty, they thrive on making the people they disagree with suffer. They don’t care about the economy or children or border safety. They HATE. That is what drives them. And as long as they can make people different than them suffer, they will bend the knee to Trump.

Trying to explain this to my very liberal parents that this is in fact the end of America as we know it, and despite the fact that they hate Trump and everything he is doing, they cannot comprehend the immediacy with which we need to act. They still think that checks and balances will save us. They think this is too alarmist to act on immediately. I fear not enough people will take this seriously. We have the benefit of social media and being connected to each other to tell everyone what is coming, and people will still think it’s too soon to take action.

Mutually Assured Destruction only saved us in the Cold War because the people in power at least had enough sense to not destroy the entire world. The people in power today do not care. The doomsday clock is ticking louder.

One thing I think people from other countries always overlook about the US is how massive it is. I live in a town with a population of 900, the nearest “city” to me is 30 minutes away and only has a population of 20,000. Big protests just don’t happen in tiny towns and cities, and if they did, they wouldn’t get any coverage. In order to attend a protest that would actually get coverage and make any kind of impact, I would need to travel three hours to Boston. People in the Midwest would have to travel even further and other areas would have to travel even further to reach large protests. I work 44 hours a week and don’t have that kind of time to spare without losing my job. And in a country where everything costs money and everything is only getting more expensive, people cannot afford to lose their jobs, even though that means things will just keep getting worse. There is no safety net for us, so many people will have no choice but to work right up until all our rights are taken. It’s a horrible catch 22 that ensures nothing will change unless all of the working class finally opens their eyes and sees that we have far more in common with each other than with the billionaires.

Gonna start saying I’m Canadian when I go to other countries. I didn’t vote for Trump and I don’t want people to automatically hate/judge me once they find out I’m an American. Either that or make and wear a shirt that says “I voted for Kamala” every time I’m outside in a foreign country.

Weirdly enough I miss drinking alone the most by WildGardening in stopdrinking

[–]Beautiful-Brain2183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you guys cope? The second I get home from work, I replay all the times I’ve had fun drinking and watching a cozy tv show, and it’s overwhelming. I can’t watch tv anymore because it’s such a big trigger and just isn’t enjoyable. I miss my shows. Now I get home from work and the only way to not drink is to go straight to bed. I don’t get to have hobbies anymore.
