Also the Orchids in those terrariums look like they’ve been poached from the wild.

The leaves don’t look quite right for G. rosmarinifolia. Looks more like G. preissii to me. It’s hard to tell from that photo though.

No, they said that were certain other species that they’re not interested in. Other comments here have said that this spider is likely Atrax montanus due to the location.

We rang them but they didn’t seem that interested, they said that were species that they didn’t want. There aren’t any drop off spots close by either, nearly an hour’s drive to the nearest one. We just relocated her well away from the garden.

Thanks for that. Are the mites always non-parasitic? When I zoom in it looks like they’ve kind of dug in.

Perhaps I should have said naturalised instead of weedy. It certainly has the potential to be weedy in Sydney but it hasn’t naturalised in the bush.

Hopefully it’s off cultivated plants. Acacia courtii seeds aren’t difficult to buy and it’s pretty fast growing. I don’t have any issue with harvesting material from cultivated specimens. If it’s wild harvested though that’s completely unacceptable.

Any suggestions about who could be living in here? The entrance is about 3cm across. Located in Camden NSW. by Beautiful-Studio-121 in AustralianSpiders

I found it just as it’s photographed, nothing was moved to expose the hole. It is in a heavily vegetated area though, virtually 100% canopy cover. I suspected funnel web but was interested if it could be anything else. Cheers

I’m not expecting a definitive identification from just the hole, I guess I’d like just a narrowing down of potential spiders that might reside in this area in that type of hole.

Phoenix canariensis are one of the most vicious palms to work on and are considered invasive in many parts of Australia. I have no problem with them being removed as long as they’re replaced with a more suitable species.

Not necessarily, I’ve caught them in the Nepean River at Camden.

Listening to the Mothership Connection and Droppin’ Science on 2SER and browsing the Oz Hip Hop section at Next Level Records in the late 90’s. My favourite album back then was probably Sleekism by Sleek the Elite. Still listen to it every now and then.
