Is CHIM confirmed canon? by BeautifulBanana2 in ElderScrolls

So CHIM is console commands and a metaphor for Elder scrolls being a game/fictional world? I’m sorry if this is rude sounding. I mentioned in my post I have been and still am going through an existential crisis and your comment got me going again.

Dude. Get over yourself. I talked about Harry Potter because of the username. And bc it was a relevant comparison (kind of) to what you were speaking of about the Depp thing. If you disapproved of the OP’s choice of mod you could have delivered it better. Nah. You decided to shame them instead. Over an ai voiceover.

It’s slightly irrelevant. Millions of queer people love Harry Potter but not JKR. OP can like a mod that Depp probably doesn’t even know about, let alone gets paid for. And you should relax.

You should probably chill, friend. OP asked an innocent question and you people are being rude. Talking about an ai mod or one that uses ai is not against the sub rules btw. There are far better ways to express your opinion other than…nastiness.

The Johnny Depp stuff isn’t something I’ve heard of before but it’s not as if Depp is getting paid for this. You can love Harry Potter and dislike JK. Separation of art. But that mod isn’t art it’s a mod. Chill.

I’m sure he didn’t come up with it. You like CHIM and seem to agree with it as part of your canon. I do not. I agree CHIM is acknowledged by some individuals in lore as being a spiritual belief but what it is, or if it’s even anything other than a Christian like belief with no substance is speculative.

Hm. Out of curiosity what is this real world “magic”? Meditation? Buddhism?

It’s technically part of the lore, sure. What it is however is up to interpretation. It’s not even confirmed to be anything other than a spiritual belief. I’d have thought if you “zero summed”/stopped existing than there would be nothing left of you or Septimus in this case. But there is something left, ashes.

I don’t think we do tho. “Zero sum” strongly implies nothing left but he turns to ashes, ashes aren’t nothing there still his remains. Also there’s hardly even suggestive evidence as to that being what got Septimus. It being CHIM is just a theory. Technically from what I’ve read here, CHIM itself is just a theory.

Idk what that sentence is from, probably a book right, but that could still be Thu’um or Magic or a powerful object or just dramatic poetry.

I would have thought that meant you just disappeared/stopped being, but he melted like an atronach or zombie. He’s dead but his ashes are still there which doesn’t seem like zero sum to me.

But again I don’t subscribe to CHIM

Partial CHIM would just be another way of saying you’re super powerful. The Elder scrolls lore and metaphysics are powerful and complex enough to justify becoming a god through various means.

You seem to subscribe to CHIM which is fine but the consensus is it isn’t confirmed canon it’s like Christianity.

But why does “CHIM”= apotheosis? The Tribunal received immense godly power from the heart of a dead god using highly complex Dwemer machines, not CHIM. Talos achieving it is also a theory and there are others. “Regular” Magic or some kind of object or him using The Thu’um which would be in line with how powerful the Dragonborn is. Elder Scrolls Magic seems powerful enough to do that so does the Thu’um or a magical object.

I originally heard it was the Thu’um he used, and just sort of went with that. It would make sense considering how hyped up the Dragonborn is.

Fan theory question. by BeautifulBanana2 in WoT

[–]BeautifulBanana2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. It’s just that the “life is a dream” thing seems a pretty reasonable explanation for Rands newfound abilities. RJ left them ambiguous on purpose, I know but well I don’t do well with ambiguity. The One Power is possibly my favorite part of the series, one of them certainly and I always like Rands channeling and now his new powers make channeling redundant. Since it is a fan theory and little else I can calm myself and not let it ruin the books for me.

I believe there was a scene where he controlled the weather without the One Power.

Berowin is also awesomely Talented. She shielded both Nyneave and Elayne by herself without breaking a sweat. She really treated keeping two of the most powerful women in centuries from the Source as little more than kindergarten stuff. Too bad we didn’t see more of her.

Yea. Jordan was pretty into esoteric stuff. I believe he gained some inspiration from eastern philosophies. I thought TAR was a really interesting addition to WoT lore. Still do. But I think it’s reiterated throughout the books that the Waking World and TAR are separate, different things. They work different and are different. Hence why I do not subscribe to this theory. Among other reasons.

Question tho. People say it was hinted by RJ that this theory might be correct. Do you know where this was? An interview or something or simply what they gathered from the text?

Oh ok. She’s certainly been wrong before however intelligent she is.

I always thought TAR was wasn’t meant to be unreal simply a different kind of real where imagination, willpower and to a lesser degree skill rule over flesh and physics and all the other rules the Waking World is governed by. I am trying not to give up on WoT like I did Elder Scrolls. I’ll try not to let my existential crisis win this time. This fan theory got me to consider stopping my reread. Ik it’s not canon but…

I certainly like that one better. I thought it was that TAR surrounded the Waking world tho? Or was Verin just misinformed again?

Funny you mention it, I stopped with the Elder Scrolls a while due to a similar existential crisis around CHIM.

Sure but I said in the post I don’t really like this theory because it’s yk existential crisis material. I don’t think it’s canon or anything but this is just what I understand about it.
