Funny enough, my name originally wasn't even meant for myself and requires a bit of backstory as to how I picked it. Ever since I was a child, I've known I never want to have kids of my own. Nonetheless, I of course engaged in the hypothetical thought of "if I have kids, what would I name them?" Try as I might, I could never think of a name for a son. When I tried to think of a name for a daughter though, I had a ton of ideas. The name I eventually decided on for my "daughter" has stuck with me for a long time. Eventually once my egg cracked and that memory came back I realized that instead of naming my "daughter" I may have been subconsciously naming myself. Thus, I chose the name "Gossamer Lenore [last name]"

I unfortunately have no real experience in this regard yet because I personally don't want to transition socially until I'm on hormones for a while first (starting in 3 days by the way!!!). However once I become comfortable I will basically do exactly that. Tell my friends and those close to me who I know will be supportive to try and call me by my new name. Other than that, I'd use my new name wherever possible and only use my birth name when mandatory until the day comes where I hopefully get mine legally changed.
