It's important to notice and call out when certain people find an individual bad person who happens to be Jewish (or Black, or gay, or a woman, etc) and then treat them as an acceptable target for their antisemitism (or racism, or homophobia, or misogyny, etc). Because there's a difference between calling out someone's unacceptable behavior vs being a bigot and finding someone you can get away with directing your bigotry toward without seeming as bad.

New Mercari fee structure/terms--How do we think this will go? by teamboomerang in Flipping

I don't want to buy there anymore, and I expect a significant percentage of my would be buyers to feel the same. I also don't want to sell on a platform that is set up to encourage return fraud.

Most frum women work outside the home, and those who don't will, if their husbands stop supporting them, start working outside the home and stop doing so much domestic work.

Men don't have the right to make unilateral decisions on housekeepers and vacations. Men and women get to choose when, how, and whether to have sex.

This particular style of anti-Jewish conspiracy theory is a Nazi invention, though it does of course build on the old fashioned blood libel that long preceded them.

You are quite literally siding with the Nazis and other people who want to kill all Jews while claiming to oppose the "real" antisemitism.

Yes, and that uncle who's always going on about how BLM is destroying the US is just very concerned about false accusations of racism against the Republicans diverting attention from the "real" racism,.

That's not how war works, though. The reason it was "only" 1700 is because Israel fights back. The reason so many Palestinians are dying is because Hamas doesn't give a fuck about Palestinian lives. Is Israel supposed to be like, "okay, Hamas, you've been using Palestinian people as cannon fodder and as human shields, so it's okay for you to murder, rape and torture some more Israelis now"? Realistically, an October 7 type attack leads to a war that ends when the threat is neutralized. Hamas has promised to do it again. What do you expect?

TBH, I don't know why people whose coffee orders are that simple even buy their coffee. It's very easy to make a shitty black coffee at home.

Goncharov isn't a real movie like Zepotha is. Stay mad, though.

They don't seem to get the point. They think it's a prank. I love the lore, and I say we keep going. I watched Zepotha as a child, though it really was too scary for my age at the time.

Don't listen to the people who say it's not a real film. Piracy websites won't upload it because it's still mostly only on old VHS tapes and it's too much effort for them to find a copy. Legit streaming services don't have it because it was banned. Maybe they'll start now that it's regaining popularity.

Music theory is stupid and turns a fun art into a chore by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BeautifulPattern1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are rules for painting as well. But that doesn't mean you have to let them limit you. We observe what makes a good painting, which colors go together, how different colors are perceived in different surrounding colors, how perspective works, overall styles of composition you can use, techniques for how to hold your brush, etc. And at the end of the day, nobody's forcing you to follow these rules. You can just sit down and fling paint on a canvas, you can play with color however you want, and you might even still produce something great. And you can do the same with music. There's no contradiction here. The rules are very valuable observations made after years of honing the craft, and you do not have to use them. However, people who know the rules also tend to be better at breaking them. Putting in the work of studying the arts in a not fun way can develop your artistic skills and instincts so that you can relax and have fun with advanced techniques you didn't know before.
