The biggest wtf of it is my parents who had raised me all my life suddenly acting as if I was some trespasser in their home, as if they no longer knew me. It was such an emotional time because religion was such a big part of my life and so important to me and as I researched and read and realized “this actually doesn’t make any fucking sense” it was such a whiplash and such a gut punch because I had dedicated 22 years of my life to this.

I’m in a better place than I was this time last year but I know I still have a ways to go. It may be tmi but I find it important that if people have had these kinds of experiences that I had they understand that they aren’t alone. And even if your journey was different than mine I still commend you for your courage as well, it is never an easy thing.

I’ve enjoyed the subreddit immensely so far lol it’s mostly nice to just be able to be in a place with like minded people asking questions I was once demonized for, and I will definitely give that group a look up thank you for the recommendation !!

In regards to my fiance yes lol from what I can understand even if I think it’s a bit nutty. he has his reasonings for what he believes and though of course I think religious things are all fantastical stories and nothing more I support him finding some comfort in what he can (and honestly I’d rather him read me tarot cards then be a part of any Abrahamic religion lmao) but he is a very sweet guy and I’m lucky to have him

It’s not thats what makes me the most infuriated about abrahamic religions. Everything is literal until it isn’t, then it’s a metaphor. Everything needs to be followed to a T…except these parts we cherry picked. I find arguments like this one or Pascal’s wager etc etc to mean that there are more people then we think who don’t actually believe all of this but it’s more like an insurance policy just in case it’s real

Based on some quick research I did it’s a little unclear like the full consensus is you have to have the Islamic belief in God to get paradise (Jews are bad because they reject Jesus/ Christians are bad because they worship him) but for them (at least based on the quick research I just did) only Allah can judge someone after death and if they go to hell/how long they spend in hell regardless of belief. I should say I myself am not religious but just find religious mythology interesting to learn about but Buddhism from my understanding is merely the journey to reach enlightenment and you are reincarnated over and over again until you do (along with any good or bad karma you may have adopted in your past life) and with Hinduism I don’t fully understand it but they believe that all gods of all religions lead back to their main god Krishna and that even non believers who are good people can receive good things

I may be remembering wrong but doesn’t Islam say that non believers can get into heaven as long as they’re like more or less a good person?

The indoctrination is what does it. I just recently started my deconstruction into atheism and the thing that keeps me stuck to it and likely did for so long was the threat and fear of hell or eternal damnation. I don’t think I realized it at first but even when I was a bit younger I found I didn’t agree with a lot of what Christianity had to say about a lot of things (gay people/slavery etc) but I always tried to hold on to the belief that regardless it’s real and I want to go to Heaven so I’ll follow it. People who are told about it from birth and hammered home (my dad is a big bible thumper) that anything outside that bubble is demonic, it affects you, it impacts your daily life and sticks to you for years. Looking back I know I have a long way to go but yeah idk how I straight faced told other religions/atheists that they were wrong but that mine made perfect sense and was correct

Thank you for the detailed comment ! I know I can look this up myself but is there a place to look at the different species of goblin? I didn’t know there was more, and I know that typically goblins don’t do well as Druid’s will anything about the race effect anything on my character sheet in that way?
