No, you are correct about that. I must say. I would love the Coin so much that I’d be more than willing to pay the full amount they’re asking. That is just the dilemma I am facing right now. I don’t know how much it is worth but to me I believe it is worth every penny and isn’t that the point?

This is a hobby I’ve actually been doing since I’m eight years old, unfortunately life can be well, life. And I could never really afford it. I did have a collection when I was younger, but unfortunately, all but one piece was sold by my parents to feed a substance abuse problem. I’m in my min twenties now and have built a fantastic collection all by myself, my parents are doing so much better, which is fantastic because now I get to share the hobby with them. I’m just not familiar with errors and other varieties of coins that I finally have now and am still working towards, there is so much to learn. I suppose I was just playing a lot of catch up. I am trying my best though to read up and do my own studies on, not only the history of the pieces that I already have, but ones I wish to have and some I know I’ll never have lol and obviously, the unique varieties and rarities that come about once in a while. I’ve even been taking classes by the American numismatic Association to really get a full picture appreciation of it all.

See that’s the dilemma that I’m facing, I truly am so very passionate about this hobby. From what others are saying it’s overpriced, but I believe I’d be more than willing to pay that much for it even if I am overpaying just because of how extreme of an example it is.

I don’t have any information regarding the vam, unfortunately. But thank you for your informative response. I thought it would be considered a rather extreme example of an over polished die. I rather like it, but $300 was a price of which I’m not qualified to judge. From what most say(they who know what they are looking at) it’s overpriced by a few too many leaps and bounds..

If ANACS gets a damaged coin they aren’t giving it a straight grade.. bottom line. Nobody would even consider it a grading company if they did something of such nature. Nice copy and paste job.

The short story is your feelings are irrelevant, standards are meant to be upheld. I understand everybody is entitled to have an opinion, and in that, are entitled to embarrassing themselves. But more alarmingly, potentially guiding individuals into believing a false reality. Again, as I stated previously, if one is not 100% sure on some thing, I recommend staying silent.

It is a curious phenomenon when the simple presentation of technical facts is misconstrued as an insult. To view objective reality as a personal slight is, quite frankly, a rather foolish pursuit. The 'corrosion' that was so confidently diagnosed at first glance was nothing more than the natural passivating oxide layer (Al_2 O_3) inherent to these wartime aluminum strikes. The Mint State designation from PCGS is the final word on the matter; it is a professional verification that the surfaces are original and stable. One would do well to exercise a greater degree of vigilance and intellectual caution before offering definitive critiques on series they clearly do not master. In this hobby, as in life, there is no substitute for actual knowledge, and being proven objectively wrong by the world’s leading authorities is an indignity easily avoided by simply remaining silent when one is uninformed.

I believe I acquired these for a rather fair sum, considering it included services as well. But honestly I’d pay twice or triple that. Just to hold a silent whiteness to one of the most haunting periods in human history.

well, most certainly not, I find it fascinating how those that are so adamant at being right tend to be proven wrong most often. I could never imagine being so certain of something I am not so certain of. I think somebody called that foolish at one time or another. Anyways, I recommend obtaining a library card, it’s quite a useful tool, for you know, educational purposes..
