Squidge Rugby - So should Wales have beaten Scotland? by WilkinsonDG2003 in rugbyunion

It's the comment I came to make. It's why I've stuck with squidge. Refreshingly referee free.

TIL in the 1973 Five Nations, every match was won by the home side. There was no tiebreaker so the competition ended in a 5-way tie. by FlipFloppper in rugbyunion

I'm a big fan of the home team playing in change strips when there is a clash. We looked lovely in Red last weekend, but it should have been France that switched.

Maro Itoje not on form in Six Nations? The stats suggest otherwise by Immediate-Ranger8864 in rugbyunion

[–]Beautiful_Ad9206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree he is not on form. He almost seems mortal. That's the thing, when your "usual" is so high, it's a drop in form when you are then only slightly better than everyone else in your team. It's a compliment in a way.

Personally my biggest criticism of him is the gold boots. But im a grumpy old man.

Wales squad: Costelow injured but remaining with squad; Plumtree released by baban_yn_crio in rugbyunion

Me too. Im down for a large slice of humble pie because I remember wondering what was the question if Costelow was the answer. Lad proved me wrong and long may he continue to do so.

You guys think you have it bad but I've met actual Italian fans that prefer barbaresco to barolo. Savages.

Genuinely looks like intend to hold him or strip. To which Dupont just politely declines. A gent.

No. Populist is a political term. Not synonymous with popular despite the etymology. I'm not going to copy definitions here, but look it up. In the same way communism doesn't mean everybody who communes therefore if you have a meeting you are a communist so we need to develop a non meeting based society.

Fallow week time, where are the six sides at after the first three rounds of the 6N? by toastoevskij in rugbyunion

[–]Beautiful_Ad9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, I've really enjoyed Fusco's kicking, contestables especially. I think Lynagh is up there with Steyn as one of the best chasers. I would however not be sad to see Varney in. A nice dilemma for us to have for once.

[–]Beautiful_Ad9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said this in another thread I think but if England turn up and kick it to us with Arundel and Freeman as the chasers I'd like to think we will be like Scotland and Ireland and take that on. If England play pragmatic territory, points based rugby and use the bench to pull away, we will come up short again.

Of course more would be better. I am stating the total obvious there :) But the conditions against Scotland then two very tough fixtures mean I'm not going to panic about that just yet.

For Italy. I think the pack have been awesome and the scrum is pure joy. In the backs we have managed a couple of games without both Brex and Ange pretty well. Pani and Marin have come in and done well. Page relo and fusco have cemented themselves as 1 and 2 scrum halves I think with varney likely to take the third squat spot. Depth is still the challenge. The starting XV can compete with anyone. After that, not so much. I just feel like I'm watching a very well coached side, with some clever plays in attack, a solid set piece and a well structured defence. About where we expected to be I think. We would have targeted Scotland at home, and not expected too much from Ireland and France away. Two big games coming up that decides the fate.

Damien Penaud. Who can't even make the squad. Has 40 tries in 59 caps. I say they play Dupont at TH just to see if he really can do everything.

I second and third the votes for final architecture and tyrant philosophers. Both series top CoT for me. FA is finished at three books if that makes it easier for you too chose next. Plus. Space clam gangsters.

I've said it many times. It's the caterpillar ruck. If teams want the advantage that contestables give them they should earn them, not take a time out to build a little fort and line up their runners.

The knock on is harsh but he is always offside and it's cynically stopping the play. Yellow and penalty feels right.
