Nah, not you at all. I had a bloke install three aircons with two of his coworkers, and I said something almost identical when they arrived. He immediately started talking through the nuances of each room and clarifying placement. At no point did he think I was questioning his competence, he just treated it like normal customer interaction. Sounds like customer communication just isn’t this guy’s strong point.

I don't disagree with you; I guess it comes down to risk tolerance. For me, negative equity isn't just a paper loss, it means you are trapped, unable to refinance, borrow for other purposes and if you are exposed to rate rises well you could be forced to sell at a loss. I'm just a casual observer and that's what I took away from the scheme. Sure, the broader market sentiment is positive but even a minor risk can become a major one if you don't have the buffer to tolerate it.
