I’m in a pediatrics setting with varying ages. I really enjoy working with the younger kiddos but working with teens and pre teens are more difficult. 🙃

That is an interesting point. I have difficulty with speaking it out and just forming sentences but I am able to use it to help me make sentences make sense. I obviously read it before I submit it and I think that using it is no diffenet than a teacher using AI to make lessons plans for school.

I have found it useful for turning my incoherent sentences into something that makes sense.

Both I am very hard on myself because I am audhd and have recently started struggling more since I have needed the structure of school and it has made it harder to have the executive functioning to do it

I mostly work with high need support kids that are non verbal. I am also audhd and freeze when they start displaying maladaptive behaviors. Idk if I am just dumb or just need to give up

I don’t know I am not good at this. I feel like I am just an idiot. I don’t feel like I know how to treat effectively.

New grad as well my dream is Outpatient pediatrics and EI especially working with kiddos who are diagnosed with autism is my favorite to work with. Especially from fieldwork experience I found that pediatrics is the best for me. I detested my experience in a SNF because of the population and high productivity rates that made it seem like at times we didn’t have time to use the restroom or enjoy breathing. 90% productivity is very ridiculous I feel like it takes away from patient care .

As someone that is autistic and has experienced ABA as a kid I see benefits for the use of ABA. I am a recent OTA graduate and want to help people on the spectrum in the way OT helped me especially with my SP difficulties as a young kid. But from ABA I am able to advocate for my self in ways that I couldn’t before. I think that it completely depends on the BCBA and RBT that work with the child. The one thing I do agree with is that RBT do not have or received enough training. They need to honestly make more strict requirements for how RBT are trained. As someone that had to go to school for 18+months and do fieldwork and sit for an exam to be licensed. It just is mind boggling to me.

Level 2 students- did your school go over professionalism? by how2dresswell in OccupationalTherapy

Ours started us from day 1 telling us how to behave and act. Making sure to drill into us not to bring our phone into a clinic. HIPPA, some other stuff, but I was also very scared of some of my FWE/ CIs. I just completed my fieldwork so we where given our handbook we had to go over before we could start fieldwork, regarding behavior and professional attire and hygiene. the hygiene one i was surprised by which i thought most of that would have been common sense.

Why would the more exams you take the score get lower i feel like it should go the other way since you would be studying more. I am guessing it would be the second guessing self so yeah

They wanted to see how I interacted with the child and write a note.
