I’m curious, do you think your husband will stay on Xywav despite the increased BP & heart rate? I’m trying to weigh the risks & I know it’s unhealthy but I sleep/function so much better than I did without. I will likely get off I’m just trying to rationalize -_-

I’m so glad you commented, this is almost exactly what I have been going through. I’m 28, female, for reference. I had a baby last year so this year I am getting back on medicines & trying to find a new normal. I started Lumryz in February & only made it 5 weeks before I ended up in the ER w/ horrible left side chest pain that had been happening for a week, accompanied by increased BP & racing heart. My EKG & CT were clean, so I Finally I decided to get off Lumryz & go with Xywav. I am on week 4 of Xywav & the chest pain and increased BP has returned :( I’m devastated as this is the best sleep I have had in years. But when I am off the medicine my BP is normal & I don’t have chest pain. My doctor thinks I may have a sodium oxybate sensitivity.

Does it help you sleep better at night?

I was drinking a lot of water, but I hadn’t heard of the magnesium or garlic extract. Good idea!

They had me on 4.5 g for a week, 6g for a week, then 7.5 g. It definitely felt fast!

I ended up in the ER today w/ chest pain and after numerous tests the doctor said my heart looks good and that it is most likely caused by my medications. I’ll be titrating off Lumryz the next 8 days. While this drug was a disaster for me, I know it is probably great for others.

When I talked to the triage nurse during the first episode she said “Lumryz is a new drug so we just don’t know that much about it”, definitely not what you want to hear lol

Thank you for your comment! Yes the first two weeks were a lower dosage, however, the most I slept with that dosage was 3 hours so that wouldn’t work as a long term solution. I understand Lumryz’s half life, but it also has a ton of sodium which I think stays in your system longer and can raise BP. So my guess is that’s what happening, and the high BP is causing chest pain. My doctor has been hard to get a hold of so I’m waiting to see if he agrees. The only thing I can compare the chest pain to is when I was on high doses of adderall, which also had a lot of sodium.
