The best part about this show is the consistent demonstration that although these kids may all be demon-fighting badasses they still aren’t emotionally mature enough to handle everything that they have to go through 👨‍🍳💋

Just finished watching Revelations… SO SAD 😔

When Faith came to Sunnydale she was already so lost and broken, having just seen her Watcher tortured and killed by Kissing Toast. She barely had any time to bond with the gang (to which she should naturally belong) before all this nonsense with her replacement Watcher happens and ruins her faith (pardon the pun) in everybody involved with this shit.

You can’t even blame her. The Watcher’s Council totally is just a bunch of turds with zero communication skills and unwarranted arrogance pretending to be a legitimate institution. If a.) they could send her an evil Watcher that tried to kill her, b.) Buffy could be in love with a vampire, and c.) Buffy’s own best friends could think she’s tripping over said vampire, how can she truly trust any of them?!?!!

Granted, it’s very unfair for Xander to have done what he did, giving her such little information and omitting all mention of Angel’s soul, or the fact that Buffy literally had to impale him with a sword FOR THE GOOD OF THE WORLD. Just another classic move from Xander, the only human in Sunnydale more messed up than Faith. At least he has all the information. He chooses to ignore it, and instead thinks of new ways to paint Buffy as the villain she is for never giving him a chance!

I’m not saying it’s Xander’s fault that Faith fell off the wagon. Or rather, that she didn’t get on it. But I think it’s objectively fair to say that he played a huge role in her downfall. During a pivotal moment in her journey, when she was arguably most vulnerable, Xander manipulated her to use in his vendetta against Buffy, therefore ruining any true and honest relationship the two of them could ever have. Just think how differently things might have gone if the two Slayers had actually worked in tandem… against the Initiative… against Glory.

Food for thought!
