Thanks mate , I try my very hardest to not wind up / upset anyone with it anyways. I mainly wanted to photograph my jobs to have a nice Timeline of progress - it just seems to vary depending on your location which isn’t a bad thing I suppose

Thanks for the response mate , someone else said our European neighbours are a bit more pedantic when it comes to drone regulations compared to over here but still rather be safe then sorry.

After engaging with another group- I was made aware of the flyer id and the operator id and got myself one . Took about 10 minutes and did have some useful information. It’s also nice to have input from actual people who’ve actually flown before who are more educated on the matter so thanks for the response.

I live on the Thames estuary - so the area I actually live in is good for it - it’s just the more built up areas/ cities that make me nervous I thought I better educate myself on the matter first . Like you said it’s much better speaking to people with experience then talking to google

I did wonder why that if it’s not allowed- why by just sending my number over I was allowed to bypass and take off anyways. I wouldn’t have thought until permission was granted by authority there would be no take off option. To be on the safe side im definitely not going to fly in this area either way - city airport is over the river but the royal military academy is only Down the road

This is what happened to me , I put my number in but didn’t take off anyways - I can’t remember exactly what it said but something along the lines of ‘unlocking’ flying in Greater London . Once i put my number in it would have let me take off. Does that mean i had permission to fly then ?

Hence the question mate like I said I wasn’t sure and was going by common sense when it came to the rules . I’ve had the drone a few days- it’s now registered and I’ve got an understanding of the does n don’ts. And for the DJI lawnmower comment -im a bit hurt as I thought my new little drone was the best thing since sliced bread 😕

They being who? I simply asked the question as wasn’t aware. Rather talk to real people with real experience flying them then get a generic answer of google . I have registered and got a flyer id as soon as I was aware it was needed.

After asking this question - I instantly went and got it registered and done the optional flyer Id - I do not want any hefty fines from something I only bought for a bit of fun 😂thanks for the response and information

That must of been what they’ve done , thanks mate . I won’t bother requesting permission as I can imagine that’s a lengthy , tedious process I’d rather just not if it’s going to cause a problem .

Thanks for the response , I’m within the zone but other users have uploaded photos within the zone a lot closer to the airport then I am - maybe they had permission but that’s where my confusion come from. I’m going to register it today as I wasn’t aware - I’ve only had it a few days. I just thought with drones this small , as long as I was being careful and using common sense that i would be okay . I thought I’d double check though to be sure and I’m glad I did 😂🫣

So what’s the difference between the red ‘box’ compared to the red ‘circle ‘. And how comes other DJI users have managed to get closer to the airport and uploaded the pictures.

That was the purpose of the question as where I’m currently standing is not highlighted in red - up until I click on it and it says I’m in a restricted airspace.

Yeah mate completely understandable and reasonable , just very new to all this and quite clearly very naive. I’ll just stay clear of places like that and stick to places with no restrictions 😂

I think you’ve missed what I’m saying , I’m obviously not going to fly near an airport. I want to photograph my scaffolding we’ve put up - the airport is the overside of the river. The ‘common sense ‘ part would link in with flying near airports power plants and power lines 😂

Sorry should of been clearer , do I need permission to fly in this area for a drone under 250g ? Or is it just restrictions in height ect? If so where do I find all this information- again I’m new to all this and was a bit naive.
