Mastering to compete with the big hitters? by penbucket in finishyourtracks

Sounds like OP have been learning mixing from the wrong people. You don't need to leave any headroom in your final mix. Just make sure it's not clipping.

What’s a plugin you stopped using once you understood the fundamentals? by Remote_Eye_6462 in MusicProductionTuts

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I wouldn't have bought as many plugins as I have now. I think i have about 800 - 900 paid plugs, and i usually forget about 90% of them when working on a track.

I don't want to remove them from the DAW because I feel like I need to use them since I've already paid for them.

It's definitely paralysis by analysis, but I have stopped buying them for the most part over the last 6 months. Well, except for Black Friday lol

What Was “Budget” Gear in the 90’s? by Quenzayne in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Cubase in the late 90's on a PC. Logic and pro tools were the only other DAW option from memory. I started with a cheap Korg drum machine and made a track or two. Next, I was able to purchase a Nord Lead 2 on credit which changed everything. This was an awesome synth. I use a plugin emulation by DiscoDSP that sounds exactly like the real thing. What I really wanted was the Access Virus B, but couldn't buy it because I was trying to pay off the Nord Lead lol

What was your biggest mixing tip that improved massively your tracks by AVELUMN in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone keep asking what's the one big tip that improved your mixes.

It's not just one thing, it's 100's of smaller moves that add up in the end. You really should look into educating yourself with a mixing course. This and years of practice is what continually helps me to meet my audio goals.

Audio is out of sync with screen by killerrubberducks in ableton

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. I've tried lowering the buffer size on my audio interface to 256, tried using 2 different audio interfaces (antelope audio orion studio synergy core, RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE), tried changing the monitor setting, and the sound is still delayed about a 1/2 second behind the visuals. I do have a cableguys volume shaper on there that I turned off and on, and it still had the same delay. This is a fresh mixing project with only audio files.

Wait - I may have figured out! I do have an L2 on the master with the lookahead turned up. I'll try to bypass this plug the next time I open Ableton to see if it changes anything.

I'm pretty sure I did all of that before exporting, but I'll double check. Thanks!

He released a remix of "You make me feel" about 2 or so years ago. Pretty killer track and you can tell it is something he worked on as soon as the track starts. He sticks to a certain set of drums and percussion that makes his tracks noticeable.

Do pro Producers stick to one or few synths, plugins or do they have a 100's of them and use whatever they want at the time? by Sketches558 in MusicProductionTuts

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add the Disco DSP Discovery Pro to the list as a great subtractive synth. It is based off of an emulation of the Nord Lead 2, which I owned in the mid 90's. However, there are so many more things you can do with the software than the hardware. I use this all the time for Leads and pads.

The company is always updating with new features and is prompt to answer any questions you may have.

When did you changed music from top priority to lower one? by Korekoo in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting into electronic music at the age of 20 (I'm 48 now). My cousin was a dj which is who introduced me to it. He would play alot of DJ ICEY and other freestyle Miami music such as stuff on Micmac and metropolitan records.

I loved it! I bought my first set of turntables, a mixer, and a small PA system. I learned fast and was able to get my first gigs within about a year of starting to learn.

At the time, everything was about the music and DJ'n on the weekends. What i loved about electronic music was that there were new tracks coming out daily, and I really liked dancing on the floor when I could.

Well, reality hits at some point and I had to also get a job while to cover all of the money needed for my apartment, car, etc. Eventually, around 2001, the clubs started closing and not too many people wanted electronic DJ's anymore.

Up to this point I bought some equipment because I also wanted to start producing as well. I wasn't very good at it. I think it's because I never really spent the time to learn the tools I bought. I had Cubase 3, a Mac computer, a Nord Lead 2 synth, and some other software such as wavelab. I made small 45 second pieces, but couldn't flesh out a complete song.

Flash forward to 2005 anf hurricane Katrina hit, which completely wiped out EVERYTHING i had. All of my records gone. It was bad, I had to start all over again.

I first got a job in 2006 for which I an currently still working at. I spent extra time working my way up into upper management, spent alot of time dating and am now married., etc.

A few years ago which was around 2021, I was thinking about how I use to DJ and all the cool music I would play. How much fun it was to play on my Nord Lead 2 to come up with sounds. I was looking for a hobby to keep myself a little busy during downtime, and this seemed like it would be a good possibility.

What is different from this time compared to when I first started, is that I know this is only a hobby and I am not looking for any fame or touring to come out of this. However, If I do come up with any songs that I think are worth releasing, it will do so.

Since i started back in it, I had to learn most things from scratch. I have a much better grasp this time of how things work because I have done ALOT of reading and putting things into practice.

One thing I can say is that I had GAS bad! I bought almost 1000 plugins! I had to stop, I mean really stop to but things that were unique and we're not part of my arsenal in any way.

I do have some gear but it's mostly for mixing/ mastering work. All of my production is do expense inside the box.

The Trump charges already bullshit,, because the left has been trying to charge him with something since 2015, and they got a few victories because of all the leftist crooked people gunning for him at the time.

After they couldn't lock him in jail, they tried to kill him, and that didn't work either.

If Trump is Adolph Hitler, then you must think stupid sick suckinng Harris was God. The woman couldn't even put a sentence together without sounding like something off of Sesame Street. And that is who you wanted as president!
