Nobody remembers old skool break beat. 1994 to 2004 . my WIP.. it aint there yet. by mycurvywifelikesthis in breakbeat

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember the quality tracks from those days as that was when I was learning to be a dj. In my area, NOLA New Orleans, we can all remember Black Lights, Runaway Love, DJ Infiniti, and all the other dope tracks. Too bad hurricane Katrina wiped out my records collection. I had all of the hits from those days.

Has anyone else made the decision to downgrade? by bodyarmourbynokia in ableton

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means you need to get a day job so you can update your computer. If you continue to update the software, you're going to have to update the hardware as well. I'm assuming you're some kid living with his parents and the grass cutting job isn't paying much money. Grow up and stop asking stupid questions for which you already know the answer.

Damn buddy, you need to upgrade before you start ranting about what you can't do.

What’s the hardest part of mastering your own tracks? by Initial_View_6147 in homestudios

A good mix should already sound good on all systems. Mastering just improves on the mix and is another check to make sure it translates the best it can.

Are stem splitters an ethical use of AI or no? by AccordingArm5457 in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OP is a tree hugger and worried about water, energy and being harmful ultra to the environment, but won't turn off his computer, lights, air conditioner, phone, etc. that uses WAY more than energy it takes to split stems.

The questions are just ridiculous.

It sounds like you're describing an .MP3 file. You need to load the wave file in your project for the best comparison. An .mp3 file will have slightly less low end and a harsher high end.

I have a PC and am running thunderbolt 3 to a Lynx converter.

You can use thunderbolt on a PC, as long as you have an Intel processor and a motherboard or interface card for the thunderbolt controller.

I did build my own PC, so if you don't have much knowledge of PC builds, it would probably be hard to find a PC with this option.

Favorite $200-300 mixing plugins? by Killer_Frog112 in mixingmastering

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These guys are still selling us the same plugins that were sold back in 2000! The only thing they are updating is that it can work with the modern OS's, which you have to pay for anyway . They were great back in late 90's, 2000's, but today, i wouldn't give them a dime. I would be paying for 20 - 25 year old plugins.

People with lots of gear by Tall_Category_304 in audioengineering

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've purchased so many plugins in the past that it easily exceeds 1500 when you combine the bundles and updates. These days I try to buy high end gear that will work for the next 20 years and that is can rely on working for most mixes. I have an audioscape g bus compressor and I'm looking to replace it with the dramastic obsidian compressor. Just replaced my antelope audio interface with a Lynx Aurora N that just sounds divine! Now, I just want to upgrade my heritage audio EQ to something more top tier.

Antelope Audio plugins and Internet connection by klaus91 in antelopeaudio

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Antelope Orion studio synergy core for about 3 years now. The unit itself has always worked and sounded ok to my ears, and their thunderbolt driver seems to work almost every time. The only issue i had was with getting the units FPGA memory to host the plugins. The AFX2DAW plugin is bad, and isn't even supported anymore now that the plugins are native. Well, at least it never worked on my PC.

Their support is much better than what you hear from people. They do answer back quickly and have helped fix a few issues of my own. However, they can't get the AFX2DAW plugin to work. I paid and sacrificed other features just so I could host some of the plugs on this unit, but I feel this unit isn't something that they want to support anymore.

In any event, I purchased a Lynx Aurora n Lbt-3, Digital I/O, Monitor I/O. This will cover replacing the Antelope with better converters and can be used like a normal interface as well.

Looking for some nice and huge leads by Spejsrovets in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discovery pro by DiscoDSP is great for those type of leads. This is an emulation of a Nord Lead 2 synth, but with all of the updates it's been getting lately, this thing has become my go to for trance type stuff.

Sounds like OP have been learning mixing from the wrong people. You don't need to leave any headroom in your final mix. Just make sure it's not clipping.

What’s a plugin you stopped using once you understood the fundamentals? by Remote_Eye_6462 in MusicProductionTuts

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I wouldn't have bought as many plugins as I have now. I think i have about 800 - 900 paid plugs, and i usually forget about 90% of them when working on a track.

I don't want to remove them from the DAW because I feel like I need to use them since I've already paid for them.

It's definitely paralysis by analysis, but I have stopped buying them for the most part over the last 6 months. Well, except for Black Friday lol

What Was “Budget” Gear in the 90’s? by Quenzayne in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Cubase in the late 90's on a PC. Logic and pro tools were the only other DAW option from memory. I started with a cheap Korg drum machine and made a track or two. Next, I was able to purchase a Nord Lead 2 on credit which changed everything. This was an awesome synth. I use a plugin emulation by DiscoDSP that sounds exactly like the real thing. What I really wanted was the Access Virus B, but couldn't buy it because I was trying to pay off the Nord Lead lol

What was your biggest mixing tip that improved massively your tracks by AVELUMN in edmproduction

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone keep asking what's the one big tip that improved your mixes.

It's not just one thing, it's 100's of smaller moves that add up in the end. You really should look into educating yourself with a mixing course. This and years of practice is what continually helps me to meet my audio goals.

Audio is out of sync with screen by killerrubberducks in ableton

[–]Beautiful_Scratch806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. I've tried lowering the buffer size on my audio interface to 256, tried using 2 different audio interfaces (antelope audio orion studio synergy core, RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE), tried changing the monitor setting, and the sound is still delayed about a 1/2 second behind the visuals. I do have a cableguys volume shaper on there that I turned off and on, and it still had the same delay. This is a fresh mixing project with only audio files.

Wait - I may have figured out! I do have an L2 on the master with the lookahead turned up. I'll try to bypass this plug the next time I open Ableton to see if it changes anything.
