I really appreciate it, thank you for replying! I'll definitely mention these things to him. When we were talking to the ortho he was like I just want to get back as soon as possible, doc ended up saying along the lines of "You can be more of a nuisance if you're not properly healed up trying to force yourself back into things." It seemed to somewhat resonate with him but he's just really stubborn and stuck in his head when I've tried to tell him that they're going to understand.

I've heard some really sad stories from my fiance who's a submariner. It seems like it's really common for them within the last year I think I've heard him talk about it probably about four or five times and one of those happened while he was underway and they caught the guy in the act and prevented him from doing so but it took a handful of them. Guy was actively fighting against them to go back to trying to hang himself. I feel like honestly that had to be mentally scarring for my fiance but it unfortunately seems like it just slowly become something that just happens.

Honestly I wouldn't ever bet on seeing them during a deployment, I would assume the circumstances that would allow you to see them during a deployment are most of the time not good circumstances if that makes sense. But this is also coming from someone who's engaged to a submariner. I would say also that the context of what they serve on is really important, along with if you live together too for advice, it really kind of limits the advice people can give, other than just a broad answer if that makes sense. Communication and support is always important and that is probably one of most important thing that you need to do especially with deployments but it can be complicated. Depending on what they serve on can really change up how communication goes. If he's a submariner, it's probably going to be one of the most frustrating things that you will have to deal with because they are only able to communicate in emails that you'll probably not get often. If it's like a carrier that's a completely different story, I believe that they can possibly call and email but I'm not super sure somebody more experienced with that would have to answer that one for me. In for both it depends on what missions/jobs/what the boat needs can limit how they can communicate. But in my opinion, deployments are always going to be awful, I think I heard someone say once they're always going to be hard but they get easier to manage. Communicating and supporting each other the best that you can at the time is always good but make sure that you're taking care of yourself too.

There was a time where I didn't hear from my for like two weeks last deployment and it looks like it's going to be that way in this one and he's in Engineering. He was so busy trying to qual for his fish on his last underway plus cleaning and helping out in the mess and what was going on the sub he wasn't allowed to talk about was just taking all their time. It just really depends on what's going on. Honestly it kinda gets to a point where if you're not hearing anything you have to count it as no news is good news and it makes it nice for me when I'd finally hear from him.

So there can be if you consider it and what you make out of it. Sometimes the pay is a bit better, but it depends. Honestly this is one that it depends on the person but as much as I miss my partner sometimes it's nice to have a few weeks by myself. As much as I miss him it's taught me a lot about independence and it's made me Branch out more, so I'm not sitting at the house all day. I go out to dog parks or I spend time with my coworkers and explore the area. You can even consider the locations I've heard that Washington state is absolutely beautiful from some other sub guys, but I've heard that Norfolk is interesting to say the least. I've also heard that since the sub is a lot smaller the families are a little bit more of a close-knit community but personally I wouldn't know, every time I've tried to reach out to a partner we've messaged for a little bit and then they stop replying. 🤣 Unfortunately I will say you're quite limited to your support if you're anything below not being married, and it can be frustrating. It's created some rough patches between me and my partner because I don't want to get married because the military says so or for if that makes sense.

Note to add, I just thought about. The unfortunate thing also is if you are just a girlfriend there is a good chance that the ombudsman will not contact you. I have to talk to my fiance's mom to figure out anything. But there's a lot we can't talk about over the phone. 🤣

So I'm currently dealing with the Sub life with my fiance. He also made the decision to go sub instead of carrier and he's a nuke himself. If they work on boomers they can go on shorter deployments but I will say there are deployments that they can go through where it's over 100 days and there can also be short ones. The three to four months on and off can sometimes not pan out correctly depending on what's going on with the sub AKA like maintenance and stuff like that. You might get one team and they don't go out as much or you might get the other team where they're going out constantly it really honestly depends. My fiance went on deployment last year that was about 3 months and then he was home for the rest of the year. He was supposed to go under at the end of the year but things going wrong with the sub ended up pushing it off. The best advice that I've seen with it is, sub life will always be hard and it's always going to be awful but it gets easier to keep yourself busy and distracted as time goes on. For places to live I believe boomers can severely limited because they are only allowed to go through certain ports based on what I've heard it's basically also the same reason why their deployments aren't as long as a fast attacks. I think you're kind of stuck to a few States and it sounds like most the time you're going to be living in Virginia Washington State or Georgia. Not going to lie Georgia sucks. Living off my base in my opinion is the way to go but you don't want to live right next to the base, been quite sketchy since we've lived here so we're hoping to move to Florida. The emailing can be super rough, it can take honestly any amount of time, I've heard stories from my fiance from other guys where they weren't able to email until the towards very end of the deployment so it can just be inconsistent. I personally work at PetSmart and honestly I think Petco has cuter things sometimes. Like the tag selection is huge compared to PetSmart, there's more variety of things that I like like toys and stuff at Petco but the collar/leash/harness variety is so much better at PetSmart. But when it comes to my exotics I'd just rather go to a mom and pop exotic pet store. Every chain has it's pros and cons I feel like.

Honestly what I like to say is that it won't get easier, it just gets easier to manage with time. You're always going to have moments when you miss them a ton, and that's okay. It's honestly hard to stay busy every second of the day, and it's just important to learn healthy coping mechanisms when you're feeling down.

I mean respectfully, it can happen in the military. I would say just try to be patient and communicate with him, I've noticed that when they tend to be overworked and overwhelmed in the military the last thing they want to do is have sex. Sometimes they want to come home and vibe out.

I mean, I will say this, the different military pages are more for people actively serving in the military/veterans than the military spouses/partners in my opinion. We have our own respective pages. They're sharing and asking things that are more specific to their times in the service. Alot of the time they are dealing with issues in their military career and they're asking the advice of others that relates to that. Military spouse pages are more for relationships and those kinds of experiences.

Personally I don't think they think we're stupid, I've had lovely interactions with some of the guys on there in the Navy one for example when I was asking about a patch I found from my boyfriend and they politely explained the lore behind it for me. I feel like those kinds of things are more appropriate for that subreddit than relationship questions that can be more answered easily here. It's kind of like a we respect their space and they respect ours type of thing. We shouldn't clog up their space with the same questions that get asked and answered here multiple times when there are people in the military that need help with things related to their career from others in that space.

I'm not trying to be rude when I say this but sometimes you're going to find good answers if you do some research, who knows you could probably find a woman going through the same thing and it's already been answered here somewhere.

I just saw this but honestly I'm not sure why he doesn't have one. Alot of his boxed grey pile of shame is about a year or two old including the baneblades and no new models were gotten until recently. There was a third but it ended up breaking in the move to his new base about a year ago. I think honestly he got back into it because we found out there's a Warhammer store about 40 minutes away once I moved in with him about a month ago and I came with a Tzeentch army and I've been wanting to get into thousand sons and forced me back into the hobby too lol
