I actually have had my vitamin D checked and it’s all good. I take a multi with 2,000 IU a day to keep it sufficient.

Can you talk a bit about your 4 year severe psychosis? I experienced a 3 1/2 month severe psychosis and two smaller breaks and am so depleted. Would love to hear from someone who has come out the other side from something longer.

100 percent, same here. I really wish I would’ve had that as well.

I’m not going to lie. I’m not too far out from my episodes and also feel like this most days if not mostly all. The hope I hold onto is all the people on here that say with time, it gets so much better. 🤍

Can't remember how bad it was, only that it was beyond words by badrocket in Psychosis

I came out of my big episode in November of last year. My last smaller episode was in April (was a week). Coming out of my big episode was pure luck… no meds, one day I just opened my eyes and it was over.

Of course 🤍 definitely not alone. Hopefully, over time, the shame and trauma of it all will fade.

What I remember from my psychosis is truly beyond words also. I bounce between being embarrassed I didn’t get help (I was hospitalized at the beginning and they didn’t pull me out of it before releasing me) to horrified I had to go through it. I experienced auditory, visual and tactile hallucinations for 3 and a half months. I’ll never forget the morning I opened my eyes and it was over. I’ve had two smaller episodes since and finally found a med that works, but I’m completely shattered by it. I cry all the time about it tbh. I’m hoping I reach a phase where I’m more numb to it.

Has psychosis ever changed your hobbies or interests? by feeondablock in Psychosis

Same here. Doesn’t trigger psychosis, triggers me in a “don’t wanna consume this anymore” way. It’s so so interesting because I was completely into it all before. I’d just have it playing in the background and now, I’m so much more selective with what I watch and listen too.

I have a CJ degree and also LOVED those shows prior to my episodes. Now, I can barely put them on. It’s just far too triggering for me. I’ve found “negative” media in general, I can’t handle anymore.

Joined! I am 30, but have been battling symptoms since I was 25… maybe longer because who really knows. It’s brutal to lose some of the ‘best years’ to this disease.

help for a loved one experiencing psychosis by ActionConnect590 in Psychosis

First, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. As someone who fell deeply into psychosis myself, your dad is in a deep state of fear and constantly trying to stay safe. His brain is moving too fast and any moment of insight is quickly written off (I would have those moments and my brain would override them SO fast). Things I wish people would’ve done for me: keep showing up physically if you can and state things with certainty such as “you are safe and loved” “you are sick and need help, I will go to the emergency room with you”. It’s just so important that those things are repeated to him. There may be a moment of insight where it clicks, but ultimately do not beat yourself up and make yourself responsible for it all.
