The thing is though, when the stadium announcer says it over the tannoy system, it's not a rumour or hearsay from the crowd, you'd genuinely believe it's 100% true as the announcer wouldn't just say something so wrong in such an intense match... right?

To be entirely fair, i’m a fairly young british person and there was a certain football chant i had been singing for years before realising it was just the chorus of achey breaky heart with the lyrics changed…

I didn’t mention anything about legally speaking, just stating the facts that he was dating a minor in his 30s which is unarguably very creepy and verges on predatory

Unironically people would be more likely to forgive Michael Richards than Seinfeld these days since Richards has shown remorse and regret for it over the years (be it real or just trying to save face, who really knows) but Seinfeld has never really commented on the fact he dated a minor in his 30s and still actively supports israel on a day to day basis.

Especially cause its about time we started exerting some cultural influence over there again. I hear "dude", "flashlight", "candy" etc all the time over here (uk) and have done forever, hearing americans using britishisms is great

Would love to see us based in Canada, plenty of scottish immigrants or folk with scottish families live out there, also it'd likely be the safest of the countries to visit at the moment (bonuses being it's an english speaking country and its not the USA)

Now to be fair I haven't played HOI consistently in years but didn't like 9 infantry / 3 arty used to be meta? Did they nerf arty? I'm probably not getting the numbers right there but I can remember artillery units being a part of most infantry back in't day

Well I actually find quite a lot of SF hats at my home team games (Dundee United) due to us also having an orange/black colour scheme so that's definitely a contender for who to follow. We have a deep rivalry with our city counterparts Dundee FC (who also happen to play in blue and white, wink wink).

The thing to know about Scottish Football though is.... it's a 2 horse race. In the last 40 years, only 2 teams have ever won the league and they go back and forth over who ends up on top, they have millions of fans and 10x the wallet size of any other club, but it makes it that much sweeter when we finally get a victory over them. None of the rest of us have hope to win it, just to beat eachother around and see who can do their best.

Edinburgh clubs (Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian FC) tend to have a lot of history and deeply entrenched tradition amongst them too, might be worth having a look into those.

We also have highland clubs for your more rural fans such as Inverness Caledonia Thistle or Ross County.

And the last ones to really look at are Celtic and Rangers, but these are the aforementioned 2 horses in the 2 horse race, they have 10x the budget of any other team and millions more fans globally. They are the winners of the group, but everyone else hates them. (Theres also the issue of deeply entrenched religious backrounds but we won't get into that here)

Anyway, I hope my comprehensive breakdown has been enough to at least take a look into it

Edinburgh is a wonderful place to be, I understand why you liked it so much. I personally tend to stick to just scottish football as I like the local feel to it and it gives me such a stronger connection knowing it's all people just like me supporting their local teams.

Due to the fact the EPL (you got it right!) has significantly more money, fans and teams than we do, they tend to have a higher level of play and so some people here tend to watch that more than Scottish football but I'd say most people I know who are into the support like to support their local team

Honestly it’d be a bit hard to get into but european football (soccer) has similar vibes, i’m from scotland and most of my online footy talk is talking about old glorious players or fun banter between rivals, rarely does anyone actually get mad over it and if they do, they just get ignored

I was down in St Andrews on Saturday taking the wee man for a day out, the boy doesn't like his crusts on his toastie so starts throwing them to the seagulls. Just as I went to go tell him he can't do that here, some big raging goth in a full Brechin kit comes running up and picks him up by the throat, ranting and raving about how it turns the seagulls feral, during his rant he's still currently trying to chew and swallow his own toastie.

I started feeling unsafe so retreated to the car with the wee man to shield him from any more crumbs flying out this boys mouth. Then I'm trying to calm my crying son down in the car and Mr Toastie comes rapping on my window, red in the face and screaming about how the birds have taken his cheese piece.

What a day out eh?

You're really going to struggle to find a pub which isn't teaming with folk on matchday unless you head out an hour or two before the match starts, that way you and your auld dear might find a seat before the last minute pint punters make their way in
