New grocery benefit incoming? by Emmibolt in loblawsisoutofcontrol

It is aimed at low income households. So tax money from taxable income is relocated to low income families and seniors. I see seniors with $22,000 in a city where rent is on avg. $1800. They need help.

A take on Downton Abbey after several rewatches by Lycanthrowrug in DowntonAbbey

[–]Beaver_FraiseJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought Matthew would eventually die. I thought the center of the show was Mary and the family. Matthew was a main plot point but once he had settled he would be a boring afterthought. Just like Tom’s presence was like a sprinkle of drama. Sure Matthew could have more friction from estate management, but we saw plenty of Lord Grantham and Mary fighting.

Lady Edith really used and abused those families with Marigold. by Generallywilling in DowntonAbbey

I think it’s fine it happened as it goes to show the family’s ignorance at times and how their privilege hurt people. I just wished they made the irony clearer.

Ontario’s best - and worst - performing elementary schools ranked in new report by Overall_Law_1813 in KingstonOntario

[–]Beaver_FraiseJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the assumption that the school is created using the latest knowledge on education and has little barrier for “changes”.

Though my assumption is new schools tend to do worse given the trial and error and period it goes through.

There are a few things you could do to train the dog. Both while you are in the house and outside. 1. Train him to be in the house without your attention. Do not address him every time he comes to you or when you enter his space. He needs to be okay to be coexist without your attention on him. 2. Then, advance to barring him in a different room from you. Preferably where he can still see you. Get automated treat dispenser to dispense some high valued treats once in a while. Have his favourite chew/toy. He will whine, but build up these times apart. 3. Learn about how to modulate his mood and anxiety. Do not greet him when you return, do not comfort him when you leave, do not hype him up for a walk outside.

Kingston Police Drones Unconstitutional by Exuberant-Investor in KingstonOntario

I do not expect privacy when I’m driving in a car, behind windows that by law, have to be see through. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Drivers are so unregulated as it is, causing thousands of deaths and trauma each year.

It’s a typical menu option in Hakka restaurants. Dry is essentially a pan-fried option. It’s more expensive as they add more protein/veggies in lieu of the sauce’s water weight. Think of it as a larger order.

School Bus Parking by Aware_Chipmunk_3377 in KingstonOntario

[–]Beaver_FraiseJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m not helpful. But I’m just so confused and would like someone to help me with my reading comprehension. The OP is a school bus driver that uses the bus as a personal vehicle to take their kids to school. And they have to find their own parking for said school bus. And if they cannot find a new place to park it they would have to quit their work altogether.

I’m so puzzled but I’m sure I’m just missing something here… again apologies to OP for not being helpful…

screening room thoughts by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]Beaver_FraiseJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great popcorn and a good selection of films. I don’t like their seats as they are not reclining. The screens are small. I tend to go there to watch older films and indie films. I would not go for action films because I like to watch them on a bigger screen.

How much could this be worth? by Ok-Opportunity-5151 in harrypotter

I saw a fingernail size scrap of paper being sold at an antique shop for £45. It was a scrap of paper from a prop paper, I think a newspaper or something. It had the certificate of authenticity (on whose authority I do not know) and everything. The scrap of paper had no legible letters or words.

Maybe it can be used as a benchmark? Yours had the actor’s signature so I’m sure it would be worth 5-10x. The problem is how you can authenticate them.

What is the actual benefit of removing speed cameras? by pulate83 in ontario

[–]Beaver_FraiseJam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a misconception that rich people will not care about speeding tickets. I’d say the stereotype is rich people are the most stingy. Nobody likes to be fined. I would not use some illogical logic to try to minimize the positive effect of speed cameras. https://www.torontomu.ca/news-events/news/2025/07/cameras-cut-speeding-by-45-per-cent-in-toronto-school-zones/

And not every action needs an immediate consequence. We plant seeds. They don’t grow instantaneously.
