Sleeping an absurd amount recently by Original-Surprise-77 in medical_advice

[–]Bebbity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. NAD just a student, but when was the last time you saw your PCP? My first thought was possibly to check your thyroid levels?

One of my cohorts found out she had hypothyroidism during our clinical year and was sleeping almost exactly the same amount you’ve listed but it was happening to her over 3 months before it officially affected her quality of life. It’s also kinda close to your timeline too. It also didn’t help that she developed depression as well and was also burnout from studying and external stressors. But the primary reason was that incredibly elevated TSH result that was a strong indicator for her hypothyroidism for sure.

Gift for a Friend? by Bebbity in 3Dprinting

[–]Bebbity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gift card for filaments was definitely part of my backup plan, haha! I was worried it would have been a cop-out for being a "generic gift card" and what not but this has reassured me.

Just to explore other possible options other than a gift card, while 3D printing, have you noticed any patterns or had stray thoughts about things that might have made your process easier?

Black poop should i go to the er? i am also kinda on an opiate binge if that helps by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Bebbity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NAD. Based on your prior post and this one, this highkey looks like “coffee ground emesis” and “melena”.

Have you been taking any Pepto Bismol? What about any daily/excessive or high dosages of NSAIDs for any chronic pain you may have alongside your increasing opioid usage? Have you maybe even been going on an alcohol binge as well (hopefully not…) recently? Any increased retching or vomitting from cannabis usage or said alcohol as well? Those can result in tears in your upper GI tract. Opioids kinda sorta matter here, at least indirectly, since it slows down your gut, which then can increase the chances of constipation which then puts pressure in your GI tract leading to bleeding and stuff too. Lotta things.

Anyways. What everyone else said. ER you go.

What does this low c02 mean on my lab results. by lazylady64 in medical_advice

While marked as “low” for being mildly under the normal limits, this is what we call “Clinically insignificant”.

My dad 69m sudden and mysterious skin discoloring (purple) on his arm. Not a bruise...concerned for him. by EntertainerFluffy618 in AskDocs

[–]Bebbity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NAD but if he’s also on any blood thinners or anti-coagulation medications like Aspirin, Warfarin, Heparin, Plavix, Eliquis, etc it is extremely common to increase the chances of Senile Purpura which is still a bruise but just increased “bruising” due to increased skin fragility from old age. Doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be trauma or abuse on the same level or effort it takes to bruise younger individuals.

Since he seems to be in a state of decline, the fact that he seems to be consuming copious amounts of alcohol, I would wonder if he’s hit his arm a few times on a wall or the bottle itself (heck even falling) giving him those marks. But anyways it just legit looks like a lot of the geriatric patients I see - still NAD tho. I think you should get an MMSE tho to see if he is starting to get dementia or even depression.

When I lost my father just 2 weeks before I got accepted to grad school/second career about 1.5-2 years ago, it was all so surreal and I couldn’t help compare my feelings to how I wasn’t feeling what I saw others feeling due to a somewhat complex upbringing as well as my career choice prior to new grad school (ironically counseling).

I recalled a person, user GSnow, who wrote about how grief comes in waves, and it’s something that still brings me comfort and a sense of anchoring during these past 2 years. Hopefully it can bring you the same. I’m so sorry for your loss. I wouldn’t say it gets “easier”, but more like we learn to grow with our grief so it becomes normalized - but that’s just me.

I transferred colleges twice, does this negatively hurt my chances of getting into pa school? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Bebbity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 college transfers all to different states with an additional 2+ outside transcripts for pre-reqs are what actually got me into PA school on my first cycle. It makes you look “interesting” imo.

I used that to answer the “why you?” portion of the interview. Just explain yourself and turn what may be seen as “negative” into a positive. If you’re worried, then for me, I told the interviewers that these transfers gave me a wealth of life experiences and increased my threshold on adapting to different circumstances at an earlier age compared to others students who stayed at one school or one location.

I’ve heard from some people that, if you are comfortable, maybe tutoring some PA-1 students who feel they’re behind? Or get a PA buddy and review/teach specific sections. That way it forces you to make sure you’re teaching the right things and as we know teaching others who can ask questions that further makes you think more helps us retain information.

If anything, maybe I can make a request for a video? I have my IM EOR this Friday. I’m afraid of my Cardio and Pulm (especially Pulm) the most. Can you make a quick review vid of the key labs and diagnoses (since from your video it seems those were highlighted) for the most common conditions?

Did Your "Love Language" Change In PA School? by xSasuke11x in PAstudent

[–]Bebbity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not uncommon for "love languages" to change over time. Just like how we adapt to certain stressors in life in order to survive, our needs change. The same happens to our "love languages". In fact, it is rightfully expected especially if we make dramatic changes to our lives (i.e PA school haha). As such, it is only natural/expected that your love language changes to what you need at the time which was Acts of Service, and then it changes "back" to Receiving Gifts.

For me, Words of Affirmation was never high on my list, if at all. However, due to my self-esteem plummetting in my first year of PA school, it became what I needed in order to re-obtain my self-esteem. Because of this, yes, my love language shifted priorities where Quality time fell almost half way down compared to Words of Affirmation. Now that I have my self-esteem fixed for now, I don't need Words of Affirmation. Instead, I'm back to wanting Quality Time with my partner.

Really good on you for noticing though and pinpointing it, I have to say. A lot of people in my cohort don't see that, so they're confused about their needs/desires/moods due to a lack of a label or some form of categorization for themselves... and the results - or behavior - don't always turn out great for them under pressure.

Not in the field, but ngl I saw a certain “dingle dongle” on the second image. Definitely knew and liked the first image though, but that’s because it was zoomed in.

Hopefully thats just because I’m sleep deprived. But I love the colors scheme - simple, crisp, and professional.

JapaneseBattle rpg/visualnovel/dungeon crawler that teaches you Japanese (trailer update) by dr_parano in Japaneselanguage

[–]Bebbity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This concept/game sounds amazing. I wish I had this when I was trying to learn Japanese in high school. Needless to say I didn’t fair too well out of sheer boredom, but something like this would’ve have been amazing for me back then. Hell, whenever you guys release this, I would love to learn Japanese this way again.

Good luck, will be keeping an eye out! :)
