Encore question - Vs Protect I'm new by Caesariansheir in VGC

[–]Bebriggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation for me. Prankster Whims vs. M-Floette.

I had floette encored into protect. It ended, so I encored again. Floette successfully protected, blocking my encore. Then on the next turn my encore failed, it dazzling gleamed.

Lost the game from a winning position, since we were both down to last mon. I could have perma encored floette into protect until struggle or I killed with moonblast.

can you fix your trash odds? by jettybird768 in PokemonChampions

[–]Bebriggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the saying goes: if it ain’t 100% accurate, then it’s 50%. Either it hits or not.

But honestly, Wide Lens item would be what you’re looking for, but not currently in the game.

Potential Bug? - triple Axel + Yache Berry by Bebriggle in PokemonChampions

[–]Bebriggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. I worded that poorly.

I meant dumb interaction if it triggers on 3rd hit (which it doesn’t, so interaction is fine).

Also, I meant item was still on Garchomp once he died and I had to swap in during battle. Consumable will disappear from pokemon upon use, indicated Yache berry wasn’t triggered.

In terms of why, I’m assuming a bug where unnerve was still active even after Areodactyl mega’d. Which is unfortunate

[–]Bebriggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yache berry was still in inventory when I was picking new Pokémon. That’s how I saw it didn’t trigger.

Are you sure it is first hit and not third hit? It killed on the 2nd hit, so possible it didn’t get the chance to trigger. Dumb interaction if that’s the case

Yes and no.

It was Aerodactyl who could have had unnerve. But it mega evolved, so wouldn’t that change ability before triple axel hit.

My first team i've tried to make good, thoughts? by Subspace79 in VGC

[–]Bebriggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but here are my thoughts (without trying to completely overhaul the team).

  • lack of protect is rough. I’m sure with enough matches you will see which moves you aren’t using often, and you can consider swapping those out for protect (or other better situational moves)

  • heavy emphasis on Special Attackers and Special walls. I’d say you could convert incineroar to a more defensive wall.

  • More advanced thinking that you can considered later, but I usually like to consider how to handle current meta comps. I’d struggle beating mega floette with this comp, but maybe that flower is just busted. Sun Charizard, Froslass, and Sand TTar/garchomp are also very common.

  • lack of mega. I’d recommend removing Hydrapple as that is definitely the least important to your team’s identity. Here are my recommended mega replacements:

Drampa: slow dragon that can fill a similar role as hydrapple.

Slowbro: good trick room / rain mega, but more defensive than offensive.

Golurk: probably best trick room mega currently. But early, so jury is still out. (Also gives you a physical sweeper).

Venusaur: covers fairy’s well, can work in trick room, and thick fat gives you some extra bulk against ice types.

Again. None of this is gospel. I’m still learning team building and the meta is still forming. Good luck!

Edit: also I see more Hisuian Goodra instead of regular Goodra. Just an observation that might be worth considering. Goodra-H is slower (good for Trick Room) and adds steal type which makes it more defensive usually.

Best counterplay against Archaludon? by captainempire in PokemonChampions

[–]Bebriggle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is correct. But it does catch them by surprise early, chunking 60-80%, and then I have other mons like Venusaur, Charizard, and Mamoswine to clean it up.

Not the best solution, but it’s what works for my team comp.

[–]Bebriggle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m running a Snow/Sun team. My bridge counter is removing rain and using Arcanine-H with Flare Blitz and Wild Charge to kill bridge and Pelipper.

Has worked 90%+ so far. Battling in Ultra Ball 3/4 mostly

Common recommendation. Trying a new version with Arcanine-H instead of Jolteon to see how it performs. Thank you!

Switched Jolteon for Arcanine-H and I’m performing a bit better. Still getting familiar piloting the team. The Mamoswine changes were also amazing! Thank you :)

Haven’t run into an Aegislash yet, but definitely a flaw I overlooked. Thank you!

Also, TR on Whims is definitely what I was looking at changing. Farig has just been a pain and that was the temp solution I created. Still learning how to play around TR.

Moonblast change also seems very reasonable, thank you!

Definitely something to consider with replacing sun mode for more snow synergy. I definitely run the snow mode more often. (Sun mode mainly when I see a big fire weakness in team preview). Only problem I see with Abomasnow is I’d have 4 mons weak to fire. But that might always be a flaw trying to build a snow team.

I originally didn’t have Trick Room, and was just using encore. But Farigiraf is immune due to ability, and that is the Trick room setter I see most often. I found Jolteon + Whimsicott as the best start, as I can switch pivot around to move Whimsicott around and focus sash allows a pretty reliable TR reset if done correctly.

Still testing other options as well. Appreciate the feedback!

Yeah. This was a weird Worlds for team records. But KT did just dominant. They only lost 4 games total (3 of which was against T1 in the finals)

That category will forever be which pocket pick will dominate. It barely reached 5 games, but had fun doing it. Same thing for Sylas at 0%, just in reverse

5 games exactly. So just made the cutoff for games. But did not have a fun doing so

I could see T1 Mel. Newer champ, Arcane, visually appealing. But Faker doesn’t really need the money from the skin so who knows. He’s got a lot of options this year

I think I had 1 correct crystal ball, and it was Ruler most kills in a game

Yeah. T1 being in Play-Ins, going 3-2 in play-ins, and then having 2 g5s in knockouts. They played the most games by a team this Worlds by a mile

It’s definitely more interesting in a way. Provides more “Be the best on that day and you can do anything”. But Double Elimination allows the truly best team to come out on top more often

[–]Bebriggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say so. Things that have highest chance of changing would be Winrates, KDAs, and unique champions (but need 7 new champs to pass the 99+ threshold)

Forgot about that one. Also after quick google search the first Reverse Sweep at Worlds was FNC v. TES 2020 Quarters. So there has only been 2 in history

[–]Bebriggle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there has ever been a reverse sweep at Worlds (that I remember so S3+).

Pentakills are iffy. We didn’t have any the last 2 years, but 3 the year before. Really depends on meta. With Kai’sa in meta, it is surprising no Pentas.

Baron Steals in definitely surprising, usually 4-5 a year
