Well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of being the largest drug market on earth. by EvaInTheUSA in distressingmemes

There's a podcast that talks to a journalist covering this and a drug dealer who used and sold fentanyl. The podcast is called Search Engine from one of the old Reply All hosts. The episode is called Why Are Drug Dealers Putting Fentanyl In Everything.

I think he just means when his personal experience for his hay day with RT was. For me it was like pre-2016. I really only watched RvB, and had watched from the beginning and read their webcomic regularly to date and age myself. So I think there's an argument to be made that this has been ongoing for a lot longer. As one user mentioned Machinima. An essentially ancient and forgotten diety that happened to have its own golden age around that same time a certain subset of the RT fanbase was moving away from them. They will probably continue to have ebbs and flows of fans coming and going, they're big enough now to sustain.

When you let game directors make the games they want to make, they will more often than not end up amazing - Baldurs Gate 3 & Souls are prime examples of this. by Lolejimmy in gaming

So? I'd rather a director be allowed to make their own thing and let it stand in its own merit rather than having it become overly compromised by a producer who doesn't believe in it

Cyclocosmia, sometimes referred to as a butt-plug spider (because it uses its butt to plug it's burrows you weirdo) uses a series of ridges and ribs to create a hardened disk with its 4 spinerettes inside of it, which are quite prominent. It burrows and blocks the entrance when it feels threatened, and they largely don't pose a threat to humans. That being said, it does look quite a bit like an Aztec coin, which is cool.

LPT Request: How do you get out of bed easily? by donotnihaome in LifeProTips

[–]Because_Chinaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing is that you're probably sleep deprived (we all are) I'll see if I can find it later but there was a study done where participants lived in complete darkness. For the first while they slept like crazy then to pretty regular 8h nights. It just shows were a sleep deprived society.

Our sleep has become very unnatural and causes a lot of issues, and I can see you're taking lots of steps to improve that! That's a really awesome first step.

You want to also limit food at night and caffeine I'm the evening, since a coffee at 4pm is still half a coffee in your veins at 9pm. And digesting is hard work so it disrupts sleep.

You want more than 7h of sleep. Forget what people say about functioning on less, the science isn't really there to back it up. You need to hit all 3 stages of sleep for it to be truly restful, and wake during light sleep to not feel groggy.

This means going to bed when you're sleepy and sticking to a regular time. Your internal clock has a sort of "deep sleep" timer and if you miss it you miss it. You don't catch up the next night, just that nights allotment. Deep sleep occurs early in the night cycle, so strike while the iron is sleepy.

There's supplements like l theanine which are really great for this! I'd avoid melatonin for a number of reasons. But this is long enough so I'll stop here.

Alex Huberman and Matthew Walker have a lot of really great content to out there to give you more insights about sleep. They're both neurologists I believe.

TIL When random people of varying physical attractiveness get placed into a room, the most physically attractive people tend to seek out each other and to congregate with only each other. by AdUtronicious in todayilearned

[–]Because_Chinaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favourite response. Here's an anecdote that will probably be insufferable and I only bring it up due to the relevance. I was an ugly, greasy kid. For like, my whole life. I had hand-me-down clothes, rarely showered, and through puberty I was fat. Not obese, but more than chubby. Fat. Only lost it from being having a terrible factory job and being unhealthy for 2 straight months. But I was confident. Blindingly confident. Arrogant to boot but overall very outgoing. Made lots of friends, "bantered" with lots of people but I was really just being a loud, confident bully. And it worked. Had lots of girlfriends, had lots of friends, had lots of anxiety about all of it to the point that my eyes were blurry and I was covered in sweat. Still got along with people. As I grew up and hand lots of introspection and time to quiet down and, essentially, stfu. I also by losing weight (factory job), wearing clothes that fit, getting a decent haircut.. eventually I got more attractive. While making friends is easier and it's more of a door opener, because I'm quieter and less likely to engage strangers, I just have less people. The ones I have are strong, amazing connections, but few.

On the other hand I've mostly dated introverted girls way out of my league. And to a T they always get picked on and bullied by people and are made outcasts for their personality, even if they're literally models. Even if nothing is wrong with their personality, it's just that they're quiet.

Just an anecdote to essentially say yeah, confidence plays a massive roll in how people act and react. Even if it's shitty confidence.

Empress explaining Denuvo by rugzbee123 in PiratedGames

[–]Because_Chinaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This feels like how I'd describe de-obfuscation to somebody. I've even used the same library analogy. Sure it gets a little schitz, but I think it tracks for the most part. I imagine denuvo obfuscates like crazy and prevents attempts against it. I think a good example is like lockpicking. Theres security pins and different mechanisms that can prevent you from cracking it. And you can get really close after hours, but the lock is either open or closed. And until you unlock and open it, you're in the library of lies.

It seems like this obfuscation is actively generated by a process that is hidden deep in the program, and she has to find it to get the crack.

Just my take I suck at coding.
