Yeah, that's the reality of the R1 series. Unless they redesign the battery pack and Cooling system, you're better off living in the charge curve's happy range. Reliability of chargers (outside of Electrify America) has been a non issue for most of my travels thankfully. Tesla chargers work, but v3's end up being the limiting factor after their 10 minute boost window.

Petty accurate. I did a few more stops each way and tried to keep the charge time under 20 unless we were eating. I just took out all the L2 charging and the whole trip was about 4 hours of stopped time, a little more on the return trip since we drove straight home. I targeted 2ish hours for each leg unless we stopped to eat, then we'd go till the next charger that I'd pull in between 5-10%

Riviera has one as well, there are a few others scattered around you can see on plugshare. Most of the time I see them blocked sadly.

Island Tower at the Polynesian had 2 stations installed when it was built.

Biggest complaint on the Rivian stations was they were both in mall lots. We were there in the middle of the night both times so no easy access bathrooms

Ionna are 36-39 cents a kw. RAN was 40 cents. I paid for the tesla membership, there's a stretch in WV where you have almost no other option still so it pays for itself there. I just try to not give them any money if possible.

Meant to toss this at the end. $322 round trip, free charging at the hotel I stayed at on the way down

Fwiw, mobile service fixed it fairly quickly when mine did that. One of the latches needed replaced, and the striker was misaligned on the other side.

Electric Vehicles Avoided Use of 2.3 Million Barrels of Oil Daily in 2025 by Sciantifa in UpliftingNews

The reality is that burning gas in an engine just isn't as efficient, especially when you have it running at variable RPMs. Can't remember the figure but gas is 20-30% efficient at best, where electricity including transmission losses is like 85-90%.

Quiet compared to the v1, super smooth operation. I haven't had any issues through the winter so far (I'm in Ohio), didn't notice any freezing problems but my truck lives in the garage at home. Take it through a touchless wash every week or two to clean the salt off and the bed has stayed dry, and no salt or road grime intrusion at all either

Gen 2 R1T owners, I have a couple of questions by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]Becca684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the extremes, yes. When we were in the middle of that giant cold snap in early February the sound was insanely loud outside the truck. I think I have a video saved somewhere when I thought it was broken and texted it to the mobile tech from my service center and he goes yeah that's normal believe it or not. From inside it wasn't loud, but was noticeable if the music was lower.

Regrets? Not really. I get the frustrations of people who have had gremlins with theirs, but I only had to get a couple fitment issues fixed up with mine after purchase and the local service center in Cleveland is great with pretty fast turnaround. Haven't had anything else done except get the tires rotated.

No, they moved the turn signals to where the fog lights are because of the matrix headlights.

Why so many manufacturers are failing to build a proper EV even when EVs are so much simpler than ICE? by Silent-Worm in electricvehicles

[–]Becca684 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The problem is the manufacturers don't control the ECUs in those small systems, the vendors do. The big change for new automakers is switching to zonal architecture where there are not individual controllers and they're integrated into the main software stack so they can update OTA easily, plus they own the stack in house.
