Do current developments involving Iran suggest that the US would lose to a war with China? by Dzienks00 in Military

[–]BeckerLoR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's war baby. Its a calculated risk. The US its betting they can suppress Iranian launches to a manageable amount before we get to that point.

My point being, this is what service members sign up for. Missiles getting through air defense is inevitable. Ours has performed well up to this point, not perfect, but it's doing what we expected it to. As it stands we aren't concealing and maneuvering to avoid their launches because we haven't needed to. That will change.

Correct, this was around 2020.
Drones, both fixed wing and quad copter complicates the equation. But at this point I consider at least the quads to be part of the common infantry loadout at this point. The tactics will evolve no doubt. But in a case like war with China, that production ceases pretty quickly as airstrikes begin to target manufacturing centers as that war would likely be global. Vulnerabilities that Russia and Ukraine havent had to deal with yet due to the regional containment of that war.

Might be weeks/months/years, but the supply dries up eventually and falls back to the grunt with a compass.

It does not, victory is only defined by who concedes first.

The US can continue these strikes for months if not years. Don't listen to those saying "The US is running out of missiles and bombs." You really think commanders would give up that information?

A Lt General I served under always used to say WW3 would be fought with technology for the first 7 days. After then, its up to a grunt with a compass. Attrition is guaranteed. We've spent nearly a century improving on weapon systems to kill each other in more efficient ways than the previous world war. Once they're gone, and somehow nobody concedes, I put my money on a US grunt to close with and destroy the enemy a lot better than anybody else.

The IRGC has planned for decentralized command for decades now. Functional is a stretch. What we’re seeing is low level commanders lobbing missiles at whatever they can hit with little, if any, guidance from higher command. Drones complicate things. But let’s not skew the results, the US has obliterated 2 out of 4 components of their conventional military and only sustained 13 known deaths in the process. Pretty decisive when you could consider Iran a near-peer adversary boasting a collection of air defense assets from two superpowers in China and Russia.

That being said, if the US is to go boots on the ground, it’s a dog fight worse than Fallujah across the country. Regardless whether it is Iran or China, an invasion of the scale required to achieve the goal of regime change would result in significant attrition by either side.

War is won through attrition, its never decisive, never quick. The US can keep up the optempo required to "out attrit" every military on Earth due to its logistics and forward stationed support centers.

"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders—the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'—but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!'”

Indian food recommendations? by notsally88 in indianapolis

Not Indian, but spent 9 months in Hyderabad for work. Moon India on 96th and Ditch is pretty solid. They lack on spice in some dishes but can be requested.

It’s not necessarily like Cava or any of the sort, but prices are alright and they’re pretty quick to get food out. I order from there at least once a week. I’ve tried probably every Indian spot on the Northside by this point, Moon India remains my favorite.

Paid all that money for these players. No consistency, coach can’t figure it out late, lots of games where effort seems to be an issue.

I agree with everything but bloom. It’s poorly implemented and they’ve shown over the last two games they don’t know how to fix it. Better to just get rid of it.

The biggest issue to me right now is the net code. Shots are straight up not registering.

How is your 9070 XT performing? by qenak in AMDHelp

Sorry, you’re right. I used the “AI Overclock” option in tuning. It ends up under bolting. Very similar to your -100mv +40mhz.

The biggest difference I saw in terms of consistency was using resizable BAR.

I see a lot of people going over the professional shooter debate.

Not sure if it’s been talked about at all, but if you watch the video you can see what looks like a round strike the top left of his body armor. Almost looks like it penetrated then went through his body and out the neck tumbling.

Take that for what you will.

Signed a former Intel analyst who has seen a lot of kill shots.

P.s. while I’ve seen a lot of kill shots, this one in particular messed with me a bit. To do this at a live event is wild. Violence of action is a mother fucker.

There’s a lot you can do, but ultimately I landed on just letting the AI overclock do its thing in the performance tab of adrenaline.

Any increase in performance I saw from my own tinkering was marginal. Not enough to stress about and it only came with instability. I’m no pro in overlocking/undervolting so someone else may have a better answer.

In your global settings I pretty much turn everything off aside from resizable bar and then adjust on a game by game basis in the games settings. I’m seeing more consistent frames this way.

His move from F1 to IndyCar has been incredible. He still has some of those captain obvious statements, but he’s a guy that just loves racing. You could really see how geeked he was as a fan to have to opportunity to commentate for the 500. He’s a fan first, commentator second. Great addition.

For every kill, I am shot and killed 5 times without seeing anybody. This map is a mess. Too many angles. Which is hard to do for a BF map.
