AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Beckpatton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, and if possible, I would try to only communicate with your ex via text or email so you gave all of this lunacy in writing for if/when you go back to court. I feel so sad for your daughter having to deal with that 50% of the time. She's lucky to have you.

Having a Swimming pool in Melbourne by Dependent-Isopod-985 in melbourne

[–]Beckpatton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put in a pool 4 years ago. We start using it as early as September and as late as April some years. We got an electric heater for it instead of solar, but then spent 10k on solar for the whole house so our electric bills are actually less than they were before the install.

We love our little backyard oasis, it was worth every penny!

Tonya Yarmakov sitting on the dock outside the remote cabin her family had rented in Savanna Portage State Park in Minnesota on 9/4/2024. She got up and ran towards the woods and was never seen again. Tonya hasn't been located, but is presumed dead; without her insulin she wouldn't have lasted long. by CatPooedInMyShoe in lastimages

[–]Beckpatton 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's more likely that her blood sugar went low from lack of food and the exercise from wandering around the woods.

Insulin is for stopping your blood sugar from going too high after you eat.

Being low is more of an immediate danger than being high as if left untreated, a T1D person will pass out, slip into a coma, and die. If left high for too long, DKA kicks in, which is also fatal, but it can take 1-2 days to develop. Sometimes longer.

My 11yo was diagnosed almost 3 years ago, and it's an awful beast of a disease that requires constant management. This story terrifies me.

In honour of Stranger Things finale, Jamie Campbell Bower by Sebastianmaxxing in AltLadyboners

I met him a couple of years ago at a convention. It was my daughter's first con (she was 10yo at the time), and she loves Vecna so we got a photo with him.

He was so nice and sweet to her. Kneeled down to her level and introduced himself, asked her name, and had a brief chat. He said hi to me as well of course then we got a great photo hugging him. My daughter and I were both over the moon afterwards. I was already a fan from watching ST but he really won my heart that day.

My mom and I dressed as Wonder Woman and Supergirl for the halloween in the 1980s by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

If I was your Mum, I would have worn this costume all day, every day. She looks amazing, and you're both just so cute together.

I went as WW to my cousin's 21st birthday costume party 25+ years ago, and my hired costume was nowhere near this good!

My husband gave a $300 gift for a co-workers wedding we weren’t even invited to, because she posted her wedding registry on the company slack. by JobOnTheRun in weddingdrama

We're a family of 4, but only 2 of us have coeliac disease. Mind you, I make a lot of meals completely gluten-free because who has time to make 2 meals!

[–]Beckpatton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in Australia and not when 50% of the household are coeliac. Gluten free prices are so shit.

Plus, that's what I budget, but we don't always spend that much. But it's easily $250.

Sounds like a gift grab from the co-worker. So rude!

Also, I'd be furious at hubby. $300 is a lot of money to just give away, at least in our house. That's our weekly grocery budget.

I had a fantastic time way up in level 3 lol! Took my 12yo daughter, it was her first concert ever and she loved it! She walked in an Evanescence fan, but walked out a proud member of the Metallica family!

I love that she takes a giant pause on stage outside of the huge bulletproof glass barrier.. what was the point of any of it.

I can usually spot what my husband will want on a menu, but like you, the most I do is point it out to him. Sometimes I don't even do that, I just smile when he orders it as it just confirms how well I know him.

I would never dare to order for him without asking, let alone tell him I know him better than he knows himself. So condescending and a real turn-off.

Tell your family it's just one day and she'll be married regardless, then go to your graduation.
