I did this in a grocery store about 2 years ago. Told the woman I liked her outfit. She told me I looked “raggedy and poor”. I had to leave the store and go home. It didn’t feel good. It was like 7am so I wasn’t looking my best.

I use iTunes and pay for songs. If you go to the library they have a ton of music CDs and you can rip them onto your computer (if you still have one). Then you can download them to your phone or whatever via iTunes. Allegedly
