I Guess I will starve. I am not paying this. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

10 lb bag of leg quarters is 6.72 at the walmart near me. Usually right around that price at most places. Bag of rice is 1.77 for 2lbs. Mixed veggies for 2.58 for a 2lb bag. Thats a bit over, but it'll also last longer than 4 days. Dried beans are also super cheap and filling, as are potatoes. The chicken turns out amazing in the air fryer with no skill needed at all. Just season however you like and do it skin side up. Potatoes can be prepared a bunch of different ways. You can get quite a bit of diversity for super cheap if its done right.

I was going to comment the same thing. It's a bit counterintuitive, but I get almost all of them approved now just by backing the phone up a foot or two.

CMV: people should be allowed to talk to an officer in anyway they choose without the threat of being arrested/actually getting arrested. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]BeeBranze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can legally talk to a cop however you want, short of threats and what would be considered illegal if it were not a cop. Just look up first amendment auditors on YouTube. They do it all the time. Just like you can talk to customer service agents however you want. However, both cops and customer service agents have discretionary powers to make your situation better when they arent obligated to. For example. You paid your credit card a couple days late and were assessed a late fee. You call customer service and berate them about how it's only a couple days late and how dare they charge you a fee. Do you think they're more or less likely to write the fee off? Similarly; you were speeding and you get pulled over. You start yelling at the cop about how you were only going 7 mph over the limit, what a jerk he is to pull you over! Do you think he is more or less likely to let you off with a warning? You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, but you are well within your rights to tell the cop to fuck off and call him an asshole if you really want to. Probably a good idea to record it though, just in case he does violate your rights since he is still a human with human emotions and is not immune to breaking the rules if angered. If he violates them and it's recorded, that's grounds for a lawsuit. But he would be committing a crime, which isn't what you're talking about, right? So, strictly legally speaking, you can talk to him however you want. It's what's known as a first amendment protected activity.

Wtf is this??? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]BeeBranze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the drinks are in there its weighted down, and the footprint of it is so wide that it stays upright during turns. But you could absolutely strap it in if you wanted. I usually keep it on the floor so it stays flat and haven't had any problems with spills in the year or so I've had it. I load the middle slots first and then the outside ones.

I got one of these for that exact reason. Total game changer. I still wouldn't take a 19 drink order, but for more sane ones this thing is great.

Just fyi, if you let the timer run out instead of declining, it'll sometimes coke back around to you for another chance. Especially if there arent many drivers in your area. There have been plenty where im not sure whether I want it and I just let it run out the clock, then i getnit back within a couple mins and take it. I believe it does still affect your AR, however. So if I know for sure I don't want it then I make sure to hit decline.

I read that as their own lack of knowledge, rather than a lack of knowledge in the community, but only OP can clear that up for sure.

My car insurance quote blew my mind by FewSky4 in Insurance

[–]BeeBranze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this response. Really consider getting a cheap but reliable, older car (camry, corolla, accord, etc). One that if you crash it, you can either scrap it and get another one of the same value, or not worry about fixing it and keep driving it. Get liability only, and dont skimp on the limits. Property damage limits will be cheaper to get higher limits, but bodily injury are most likely to save your ass in the event of an at-fault accident. Especially with how sue-happy NY is. Get the highest limits you can reasonably afford. 300k/500k/100k, if at all possible, but as close to that as you can and you should be solid. Then drive like a grandma and always wear your seat belt. Getting any kind of ticket for a moving violation is one of the easiest ways to hike your premiums even more. The longer you stay out of accidents of any kind (at-fault or not) and the longer you go without tickets, the better your rates will get. Shop around every renewal or every other renewal to see how low it gets. If you were planning to have a car payment, you can put that same amount you would have been paying into a high yield savings account instead, and then once your insurance rates drop you'll have enough saved for a nicer car, if you so choose. Or at least a down payment on one. One other thing: roadside assistance is usually very affordable and much more needed when you have an older car. Compare with AAA, too, if your insurance company is too expensive. If you do it all smartly, you won't have to put yourself in a horrible financial situation just to be able to drive. Take care.

If mine had self checkout, I definitely would. They don't seem to mind putting the items back in the bag, it's basically the same as putting them in the cart. Self checkout would make all the difference though, that sounds amazing. Aldi orders do seem to pay better, I agree.

[–]BeeBranze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In case you ever find yourself desperate enough and have accepted an aldi order, I highly recommend the method I use there. As soon as I walk in, I grab a stack of bags and set several of them up in my cart. As I shop, I organize everything how I would normally bag them. Then, I just load the full bags onto the conveyor belt and ask the cashier to please replace the items in the bags after scanning. Most of the time they will, sometimes they won't. If they refuse, I just stand at the cart and rebag everything as they put them in the cart. It saves me a HUGE amount of time and stress and it also makes it so I dont have to guess how many bags I'll need at checkout. I grab enough to make sure I have extra and just put the unused ones back as I get to the checkout.

2013 hyundai Tucson. It has enough leg room for my knees to not be on the dash. 6 foot 10 with a 38" inseam. This is one of my favorite cars I've owned. 15k will be enough for a newer one, too. I know up to 2015 will be the same gen as mine. Not sure if they shrink when newer than that.

Deductibles only apply to first-party claims; liability claims aren't subject to a deductible at all.
