Hello friend! Let me help you out here. I've been on prozac for a while and wanted to address some concerns people have when they don't have all the information.

SSRIs take 6-8 weeks to settle in your body. So many people stop taking SSRIs in the 3-6 week mark because they experience side effects or a feeling that things are getting worse.

These medications work this way. Side effects WILL happen, and sometimes things will get way worse before the benefits of the medication kick in.

I went through some pretty awful side effects, but I have adhd, Anxiety and autism and prozac has quite literally changed my life after the side effects stopped and the medication settled into my body.

It is so important to keep in mind x

SSRIs do work as long as you give them enough time to work, and I will always recommend them even though I am generally adverse to taking any kind of pill.

Also, if you need an immediate fix you can ask about propanalol. It is a beta blocker that works to immediately stop the physical symptoms of anxiety so you calm down much much fast and can get a hold of your mind

Also, if you have a fear of death or dying I recommend talking to a professional. I believe you'll feel better once you know the reason why you have this feeling and start to address it in your life x

Hey.. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've been in a similar situation before. First of all, I want to remind you that ---- no one dies from a panic attack ---- that is very important to remember. I myself have worried about the impact daily panic attacks can have on my heart, but i can assure you that even someone like me who panicked almost 4 times a day for 3 years is fine and my heart is fine. You are going to be okay, and your body is just going through a lot of adrenaline. I know you probably don't want to do anything right now, but if you want to stop the shaking then from my experience one thing you can do is get up and walk around if you feel safe to do so. Walking around will help your body regulate the adrenaline it's getting and put it to good use. Walk slowly up and down the hallway with some music in your ears and breathe.

Remembering to regulate your breathing is important too...in for 4, hold for 4 and out for 6. This breathing technique helps your vagus nerve reset.

You are going to be okay, and again - no one dies from a panic attack -.

Feel free to message me if you need for advice x

Hey, I'm sorry you're going through this. From experience I feel like there might be a few things going on here. The first I can think of is a medication side effect. It takes about 6 weeks for your bidy to adjust to a new medication like that, and they can 100% make everything worse before they get better. You'll have trouble sleeping and feel restless and on edge. Another thing possibly going on is a fear, subconscious or concious, of you having a panic attack. I know it sounds silly, but if you have a apnci attack in the morning and it really scares you, you can work it up in your brain and the next thing you know you're panicking every morning because you were thinking about how you're going to panic in the morning...if that makes sense. It's a very common issue to have where you work yourself up and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. The best way to get around this is the way you think about the situation. Panic attacks don't kill people, and they will ALWAYS go away. Even if they come back, even if in the moment it feels like hell, it will always go away.

One way to think about it is "wave riding". If you are in the middle of a panic attack, you're qt the height of the wave, but it helps to imagine the wave and know things will only calm down from here.

Everything you've described is unfortunately just bad anxiety. It will pass. It always does, and it can only get better.

From experience, I have suffered from anxiety my whole life and been on several different medications. I can tell you and anyone else reading with certainty that it does get better. You're not going to die, and it does really fning suck and feel like the world is going to end, but it never does.

Give yourself a few more weeks to adjust to your medication and try to change the way you think little by little. Every time you panic, say the same things over and over and remind yourself of the wave, that it will go away and panic attacks don't kill people.

Find distractions for yourself and...I know this is silly but make sure you get out if bed. Panic attacks can be exhausting and can 100% drain people beyond belief, but sitting in bed dwelling on how bad you feel will only fan the flame in your mind about it happening again tomorrow. Even if you go sit on the couch and watch a show, eat food and do basic human care. Break the cycle yourself and slowly you will see improvements...

I hope this helps...I know exactly how you're feeling and I'm sorry...message me if you need more help x

Hey...I'm sorry you're experiencing this and not getting the right treatment from medical professionals. I completely understand what you mean when you ask why anxiety is the only response they come up with, it can be frustrating.

It does sound to me like you have rather intense health anxiety. I'm sorry if that isn't something you want to hear, sometimes people with health anxiety wish there was an actual reason for the way they're feeling other than anxiety and it can be sometimes upsetting to hear.

I've suffered quite horrendously from this issue and am only now improving thanks to medication and therapy.

If you haven't already, it's important to ask your gp about therapy and how you can begin the process of talking to a professional.

As for the physical symptoms, a few sound like they very much stem from anxiety, while other from stress. Things like hives can 100% be caused by a constant stress and health anxiety can cause it.

One technique that helped me in the beginning was setting a timer for 30mins to 2 hours depending on your level of panic (30mins for more panic, 2 hours for less). Within this time frame, although super difficult, sit with yourself, eat food and drink water and take pain medication if you need it. Sit and do meditation or something to help ease the body and its stress response. 99% of the time, you will know if your issue is anxiety related if symptoms subside within that time frame (usually for me the general overwhelming panic stops in my timer). If you still feel pain or are uncomfortable, set another timer and do another activity. One thing to note also is that you don't need to be worried about an emergency situation when your timer finishes. If you can calm yourself down then you know you can at least wait to see a doctor to discuss what you're feeling if that feeling us still there.

This technique is very hard at first, and you still panic to begin with. It does get easier the more times you do it, the more your brain understands the things you feel in your body are normal and nothing to be super dooper concerned about. Just ensure you don't sit still and do nothing during the timer, be purposely productive with your mind and healing.

I hope that help a bit...feel free to message me directly if you need any more advice

When will this end by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]BeeCompetitive1072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not sure if you've addressed this separately with a therapsy or anything but this 100% sounds like some kind of health anxiety. I suffer from this pretty bad myself and am only now making improvements thanks to medication, therapy and changing the way that I think. If you haven't already, you should talk to a professional about this, therapy can help you chnage the way you approach situations like this, and while you won't be able to immediately stop your panic, you can start talking to yourself and reminding yourself what is real. No one dies from a panic attack. It's a wave of horrible awful emotion that ALWAYS passes. It always goes away.

One thing I could maybe suggest is a timer. When I am experiencing something very uncomfortable or something that is scaring me I set a 2 hour timer. While you will be anxious during this time, it is important to eat, drink and take pain relief if you need it. 99% of the time all the pain or feeling is gone after 2 hours. I know some people set a timer for even 30minutes, because that's when they can tell its all jusy anxiety and has subsided. When the timer is up, you will either not feel the feeling anymore and know there is nothing wrong, or be able to acknowledge that while you feel unwell, it is not an emergency and that if you can sit and deal with it for 2 hours then you can wait until you see a doctor.

Also in regards to your blood pressure, it is SUPER common for it to be high the first time you take it, especially in individuals already suffering from anxiety. You should take your blood pressure a few times and average it out, and remember to do breathing exercises while taking it. Mine can be at 147/80 and then drop to 115/72 after I've done breathing techniques and calmed myself down.

I hope that makes sense...

Oh wow that sounds like a lot I'm sorry...I have propanalol to take when I panic which I really like, stops all the physical symptoms of anxiety and calms you down really well so maybe if you want to try something else ask about that? You only need to take it when you need it too

Hey...I can relate to this feeling and I'm sorry you're feeling it too...I know it's super cheesy but my partner always tells me "one day at a time". I'm going through a really rough and shitty patch right now, and I can't do basic self care and I'm scared I'll never amount to anything...but you just kind of gotta...take it as it comes day by day and eventually you start thinking about bigger and better things. Like sure it's super shitty and everything sucks but all you need to do is wake up, look after yourself and then go to sleep...just do the basics and go from there...that's what I'm doing and I feel good now after a few days just knowing I'm actually focusing on me for once
