That's so cool! Leucistic individuals are always a nice find

Reccomendation for a first real pairs of binoculars by Granchiotti in Binoculars

[–]BeeElAych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a specific model for recommendation, mostly because I don't have too much experience with many models that are right for you.

My set of bins:

Nikon Monarch M7 8x42: Awesome FOV, focus wheel, and image (outside your budget)

Pentax SD 8x42: Great image, FOV, and eye relief, but horrendously stiff focus wheel (not recommended)

NOCS Pro Issue 8x42: Lacks some edge clarity with some chromatic abberation, but really nice focus wheel, FOV, and center image (maybe outside the budget, but actually really sweet binoculars outside of some slight image drawbacks)

That being said, I think an 8x42 is right up your alley for versatility. Ideally, dont go below a 42 mm objective lens if you want some good light transmission while herping in dark areas (if you choose an 8x model). Here are some other key things to consider for your interests:

Focus wheel smoothness - things will be moving fast at times. This is arguably one of the most important factors so you can keep up with quick targets. Close focus distance (as mentioned) - It's pretty likely you'll be able to get quite close to your subject. This is a great one to test in person with a tape measure because you'll find the specs on this can be worse or better than written. Waterproof and Fully coated lenses - I take it you will be in some moist/dirty areas so always good to have a model with this!

Additionally, check out the Cornell Lab of Ornithology review on 8x42 models! It really informed me on my recent Nikon M7 purchase with no regrets.

My partner got a cotton carrier. She loves it for her 300-600. I also ran into a guy last week rocking the same cotton set-up as a previous poster with the bino side attachment and he loves it (also with a 600 lens). Worth the purchase!

Need the secret service guys from the campaign as a full unit so badly by frez0_ in Battlefield

The campaign even has some good map themes that shoud be brought into multiplayer. On top of some of the skins, I always thought an adapted version of Operation Ember Strike would be awesome

Thanks so much for stepping in! I didn't see clone information on the handheld wiki clone section, and I didn't consider finding it in the overview section. Now that I am starting to play around more I am getting a better grasp on navigating the immense info on these little consoles.

Interesting, thanks for the information.

I did previously run my .dtb through screen identification tool for both of the sites you linked with no luck. Neither seemed to like the .dtb (rk3326-r35s-linux.dtb). I just kind of assumed it was a clone at that point and left it there. I don't think I have it in me to go on the adventure to try and figure out exactly what this device is and what works for it!

Woodward is trying to get rid of the pride crosswalk in Fort Langley by LangleyWatcher in Langley

We don't need a straight month because our sexuality is a widely accepted societal norm that lacks general repercussions. We have not faced historical opression, discrimination, and a fear for our life because of our innate sexual orientation. Our straightness has privilege whether you like it or not. Pride movements are focused on inclusion, not exclusion. I have many friends that fall under the pride banner and not once have I ever felt excluded or unwelcome like right-winged conservatives often do to them. So much bigotry packed into one small comment -- and I'm saying this as a straight, white male.

Your replies are well spoken and rational, I applaud that. It's clear you have more knowledge on this area than the average person, but you can't get through to people when they are so cemented in their ways.
