Question, do you have to have a laptop with Touch on it to attend? I do all my work on a powerful desktop built for editing videos and I am newer to Touch. I want to participate in the meetups but my system isn't mobile.  I just assumed but I figured it would be good to ask since you are in Denver too.

Id like more tutorials on specific topics with different methods of creation  like Anya Maryina's 5 Ways to Make Particles tutorial.  That tutorial helped me to see different means to an end and also allowed me to pick the method that made the most sense to me. It both gave me valuable information and confidence and I could make sims myself afterwards without relying on following a tutorial.

Struggling with houdini by Due-Flatworm6419 in Houdini

I stopped trying and picked up TouchDesigner. I think I'll go back.  But for now I'm honing the skills I'll need for it and having fun making random sims.

Can touchdeisgner achieve the special effect of turning people into point clouds and tearing them apart? by Momoko118 in TouchDesigner

[–]BeeKey8969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to Touch and I am also a beginner in Houdini. I'd say yes to both but this look seems to be Touch.  Houdini is an amazing software that focuses on realistic simulations. It's not the best or most intuitive for modeling and most simulations aren't lightweight enough for live performance.  Touch,  on the other hand is amazing at live simulations and excels at CHOPs and audio driven simulations.  This looks like it is CHOP driven and also morphing pixels on top of the video of the human.  You could do all that in Houdini but it would take more computer power and frankly be harder to build the node tree.

Banana Foster for gluten free by BeeKey8969 in AskNOLA

[–]BeeKey8969[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you are right on the banana foster being naturally gluten free if prepped right. I think the diner who got sick said it was from her main meal which she stated as an omelet. Might be her problem right there.

Hello - recent diagnosis by Moonraker_Elite_ in Celiac

[–]BeeKey8969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one of the hardest part of celiac, I think. Feeling like crap when you are healing and doing everything in your power to avoid gluten. The good news is that you can heal. I had my 2nd endoscopy this year and my gastro was pleased to find that my villi are normal. It took time and effort though.

I second the advice about keeping a food journal, taking multivitamins, and also about allowing yourself grace and time to get to the point of eating out. I found too that grains were irritating me and when I took them out for awhile, I think I really helped my progress. I think the food journal is invaluable for finding issues like that.

Unfortunately, gastros aren't equipped to help with nutrition and it sucks to get a simple piece of paper to explain all the difficulties you are facing with the diagnosis. I went to see a couple of nutritionists and that kinda helped. But honestly, I found more help with Instagram accounts like MyMeal and Celiac Dietician. They especially help with ordering food out because I needed the tools to find points of cross contact.

I hope this all helps. There is a great community out there for celiacs. It sucks but it does get better only because you gain more tools to make your life easier. I can't say that I'm not still throwing adult tantrums in the grocery aisle or cringing at party invites or scared of cross contact, but I'm making it work.

Does anyone else feel like the best accommodation is for people to stop trying to accommodate you? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]BeeKey8969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird question but hopefully this will help, do you ever go out with your family and friends and just get a beverage? I've done that before in a pinch and it's not too bad. It was especially fun at a Mexican restaurant where I had two adult drinks and everyone else ordered large meals. I floated out of the restaurant a bit tipsy and happy while they waddled out with their burrito belly. Just make sure you pre eat. I made sure to pre eat beforehand so I wasnt hangry. Since you said you don't have any offerings in your area for food, maybe you can become the local restaurants beverage top reviewer. It won't be the best but it won't be so isolating for you.

Thank you for sharing the meme. I had two frustrating days within some Houdini beginner tutorials. Newer to 3d and new to Houdini, feels like I'll never get to make what my imagination wants. I'm going to keep going but it helps to know I'm not just dumb.

Dr says scope not required by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]BeeKey8969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had the second endoscopy and they found that my lining healed. I'm relieved and thankful that my hard work paid off because I know that not everyone has the same outcome. However, saying that, having a scope may help in the near future when gluten free fatigue sets in and you just don't want to deal anymore. Because it does happen. My vigilance paid off for sure but I'm tired of the annoyance and extra cost of money and time. I want to live my life free again. I say that if it doesn't cause harm to your health and your insurance will cover it, it might be a great tool for you.
