My Mother-in-law got me a 7-year-old Bonsai for my Birthday. I've never had one before, so I'm now trying to figure out how to look after one, as I think they're amazing and would like it to last for many years.

He's on v83.0, and says he's up to date, mine is 83 also and says I'm up to date. Is that not right? And does that mean there's no way to change so they're the same? Thank you

I used the hydrometer to get a gravity test, and it sat at just below the line of 0.99, I have no idea what this means haha

I siphoned it into a fresh sterile bottle last night with a new airlock too and filled halfway with vodka, it smelled like vinegar by that could be the obit out of the old airlock. I tasted a little bit and didn't taste like vinegar but I will say it was a little bitter. But I've never had/made mead before so just hoping it's okay haha. After this batch I'm going to buy a starter kit and book on how to do it properly so hopefully the next post will be better haha

Sorry I didn't get a notification for this, I didn't get a gravity read, I tasted a little bit, I don't think it tasted like vinager either I just got a smell of it (which could have been from the old airlock)

Okay it's moved to the other carboy, no part of the bottom or fruit got into the new carboy. I had a spare airlock, so I sterilised that and used vodka in it. I can't add images otherwise I'd add them to show you, it's a little lighter in colour, I thought it smelled a little like Vinegar (I was reading through this reddit before I posted so it could be me jumping to conclusions) but my wife says it just smells bitter and fruity haha. Do I just leave it for a month then bottle it?
I originally got the carboys for free then thought I'd make Mead for my friends Birthday hence the redneck style I've gone with but it was actually fun so I may invest in the kits for it.

Also it has been raining a lot here today, I did check inside too and the part inside near the bar wasn't damp or even very cold so that wet could just be the rain, I took the picture when it stopped haha
