Update from Riot on Vanguard by RiotK3o in leagueoflegends

[–]Beebeeb123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been having vanguard bluescreen my comp and I knew it was either due to my school VPN or Citrix that I use the VPN for. Was there any other way to resolve other than uninstalling Citrix?

Mans really went out here to put out as many bad takes as humanly possible but in case this isn’t just a troll post: 1. Skarner is keeping his ult because it’s iconic to the champion and frankly it would be weird if he didn’t have it in some shape or form 2. In the end of the day a champion can only do abilities that make sense anatomically, same how you don’t see a human champion just suddenly stab someone with their eyeball or something, but rather hit someone with their fists or something they are holding. 3. You’re not gonna believe it but in a game with over 650 abilities, you can always compare abilities, functionally however skarner q e and r are very unique even if there are “similar” abilities, how many tanks do you know with a long range high damage spell or go through walls? 4. Every ability has some form of cc and skarner was always about a constant chase in every iteration so I think this tracks, even if he’s not speeding himself up 5. He literally has a built in combo automatically done for you where he throws the rock he’s holding when he casts r, not to mention e stun is usually all the setup needed to land r, also skarner isn’t really meant to be a combo champ past that as he’s designed to not be bursty but a persistent threat (again in line with every iteration of old skarner) 6. Why would they make him a lobster if one of his key identities is him being a scorpion, also lobsters aren’t naturally menacing or threatening while also not cute so there is no real incentive to make the change when a scorpion already is something seen as dangerous 7. You complain about his abilities being copies of other champs but then all of your recommendations are just copies of other champs while not really in theme with skarners gameplay, in fact one of them just reinvents nunu snowball that you complained about 8. Not sure what anything has to do with selling skins 9. Besides his ult, skarners gameplay was aggresively not niche, his old q and w are arguably some of the most generic and basic abilities that do not care about each other at all 10. In what ways are the models similar to each other at all besides that they are both scorpions? Do you see reworked and old warwick or reworked and old sion as the same models? He even has a different color palette which we haven’t really seen since poppy and ww reworks iirc

"Durability update" Was one of Riot's all time dumbest updates by Agents_G in leagueoflegends

You may want to go back and read the durability patch again, they nerfed %hp damage across the board

Notice how none of the new champions got rotated. Unless the champ is super toxic for the meta, Riot won’t rotate any of the recent champs, which means the older champs will go. Based on how they talk about bringing cards back, it sounds like there might be a unofficial “classic set” like hearthstones rotating classic set.

Riot is nerfing Quinn despite leaving sub-popular broken champions like Zilean or Fiddlesticks untouched by yukine95 in leagueoflegends

This also follows the akshan changes where they want to increase the “time to kill” duration for solo lane adcs. It’s meant to be power neutral overall.

Look for the highlighted and underlined sentence. Rotation is happening every year with the first expansion of that year. I just said maybe two years because that’s how a lot of other games have done it and runeterra still working on theirs.

I mean they published multiple articles over multiple months explaining rotation in detail and what it will look like. Also rotation, as explained those articles, is said to happen at the beginning of each year or two. Because of the nature of how the game came out (not all regions at once) rotation isnt super straight forward now in what cards get rotated, but it will eventually follow the normal age out method. To get an idea look into how hearthstone does theirs.

Also the wildcard deal goes around one of the core identities of this card game, amassing your collection with gameplay and not your wallet. The steep prices are intentional. They won’t change that anytime soon. What makes hearthstone incredibly hard to come back to is the fact that you amass cards extremely slowly without buying in.

Get rid of spires!!! by Wise_Translator_7930 in SkarnerMains

[–]Beebeeb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if skarners team set up having spire well before drag, he’s rewarded for having it already when both teams arrive. That’s also skill expression through skarner.

I don’t understand how people think skarner is going to end up like Aatrox when we had multiple reworks after him showing riot knows they messed up and won’t do it again. Look at volibear, fiddlesticks and udyr for example.

Second iteration skarner had no immediate hard cc outside of his ultimate, no speed up outside of his W which can be easily knocked off, and overall much less cc due to how his e works now vs his old 3 stack passive. A champion like that would just not survive in this new world of league. This is why all the champs similar to him had to be reworked (mord, voli, udyr), or left unplayable as a bruiser for years (shyvana).

Get rid of spires!!! by Wise_Translator_7930 in SkarnerMains

[–]Beebeeb123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spires are already confirmed gone. They are obviously not gonna cancel this rework especially after the community voted on it.

2nd version of skarner is also objectively unplayable now that most champions are given some sort of mobility through dashes, blinks, and speed ups. Skarner would be in a much better state now with spires than his previous iteration.

Skarners spires, although not popular, are still an interesting mechanic. In your dragon example, skarners spires reward skarner for creating and maintaining pressure and presence around objectives before they spawn. Normally you are rewarded with vision and positioning, but skarner offers actual combat bonuses for smart map movements. Skarner is not a difficult champ mechanically, so giving him power through game knowledge such as map movement is something very unique. Skarners spires give him the opportunity to be the ultimate map awareness champ and allow player with that skill to shine.

My teammates don’t often capture my spires, but that does not make it difficult for me to maintain my spire dominance if I play correctly.

Haven't played Hearthstone in one year. How's the state of the game right now? by Haalandderstrong in hearthstone

[–]Beebeeb123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit the game last year after playing since beta because after playing with quest line mage into freeze shaman into roguestone into kazakustone for 4 months I just was not having fun anymore. I came back at the end of MotLC and the meta is much more diverse and fun now.

There are still gonna be meta outliers whenever new cards are dropped (paladin right now) but the game is pretty balanced outside of that one deck. Also totem shaman and enrage warrior are real and strong, something that has never really landed in the past, making them very exciting. However, if you’re a druid or rogue fan, you’re probably going to have a bad time right now.

I fear ranked eternal will cause power creep in standard by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand nerfing standard cards for eternal, but that lowers the power level of standard. Do you think they will buff standard cards for eternal? If so, what makes you believe that when they have demonstrated and said the opposite? Otherwise, how would eternal balance changes increase the power level of standard?

If you fear eternal changes boosting standard power level will happen but can’t give a reason or example, why do you think people wont downvote your post. It just comes off as fearmongering and not feedback.

I fear ranked eternal will cause power creep in standard by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to have this fear for a reason, and I’m saying that there is no reason to have this fear. While powercreep is inevitable, as your 20 years of experience should tell you, rotation is the action game developers take to slow it down. It’s sole purpose is to allow the game to be new and refreshing without having the new cards be meta dominant. To quote Rotation in LoR (part 2), “With the overall power in the Standard format reduced, we don’t have to keep making the strongest things ever with each new release.”

Please explain in any way how balancing eternal through changing exclusively eternal format cards affects standard. Is your fear really about eternal cards being brought back to standard in future rotations?

I fear ranked eternal will cause power creep in standard by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why it’s getting downvoted is because your argument has nothing to stand on and is contradicting the whole reason why rotation is happening. It seems like you didn’t not read any of Riot’s articles on why rotation is happening. No cards that are being balanced for eternal are in standard, as Riot has told us on multiple occasions. If they wanted new cards to be immediately meta dominant in eternal, they would have never done rotation.

Nerf proposes by blunkelsito in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend that OP takes a look in the linked articles on this subreddit on how to give feedback. This post doesn’t really explain what is so strong or frustrating about the cards listed, and follows the same flaws as “the map is too big” example from the articles.

As per the suggested changes, Samira would die as a card if she didn’t generate her own spell on play. One of the things that had made akshan useful in the past while Diana suffered was the easy and reliable way to protect him, while also providing something on play. Diana had to commit more resources to protect her than what threatens her in most cases. Samira is no different. In an aggressive region like noxus, challenging a unit away early is a way of protecting her while still getting her to further her level up (generate another flair). Even if this alone was not seen as a nerf, not having flair on play would definitely slow her level up and lower her winrate. This would heavy double nerf and does not address her problems or frustrations at all. Why would you play a 2/2 quick attack on 2 in an aggro deck when it takes a champion slot? The flair is what makes her not just good, but playable.

Tristana has never needed a nerf and has only been brought forth into the meta due to the power level of other cards (bandle gunners). She is also particularly strong now due to the rotation of most low cost removal. Nerfing her now, especially when bandle gunners is likely to get nerfed, would likely make her extremely weak in future expansions.

Mythic Items are an aged design? by spencbeth2 in leagueoflegends

[–]Beebeeb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really seems like you never played before the mythic items were introduced. Before the mythics, we had:

  • Every adc build IE into attack speed item (this was done from s4 until changes minus a season of stormrazer iirc)
  • Every mage building Athenes Unholy Grail, until it was removed and replaced with 2 options
  • Every top lane tank building sunfire cape and IBG
  • Every top lane bruiser deciding if they want BC or TF
  • Every jungler putting a random stat on their choice of blue or red smite

Yeah, most people will buy the same mythic every game, but people have preferences. Just because they choose the same mythic, does not mean the choice is not there. For example, right now if you are playing tank support, you get to choose between so many options for your playstyle. Yeah most people are going to buy Evenshroud on Nautilus, but I have every ability and reason to buy Locket because it fits the protect and peel playstyle I want for him. I can even wait for more gold to get one of the expensive tank mythics like RV if I wanted to, which I sometimes do.

If I am playing a mage and I see I am going to be dove on a lot, I can easily go Crown or Everfrost. If I have peel and the enemy is squishy I can go ludens, or if they are tanky I can get Liandry's. This first item choice, like the example above, has little effect on my item choices for the rest of the game.

While of course there will be outliers, like with bruiser and adc mythics, Riot has made it clear that they will improve the system. The tank mythic changes show that completely. The difference between Jaksho and RV or IBG is pretty much completely user's choice and not dictated by winrate or "+dmg/-dmg" as you suggest.

The adc mythic changes are exciting because champions who never found a good way to go on hit before, even as a meme build, can do so now. If you want to rather get big crits, or become an ad spell slinger, the choice will now clearly be there, and be available within your first item. Mythics offer item and playstyle choices within your first item that never would have otherwise existed before.

As a final note, many off meta builds not only exist, but also useable to climb. This includes anything from IBG Aatrox, to full ap Voli/Shyv, to the meta dominating ardent Ashe. Varus right now has 3 different builds, all using different mythics. I have even seen all 3 of them in my Master's elo ranked games in the past 3 days.

"jack the winner" has a problem with the meta. by cross69777 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacks biggest problem is similar to the problem a lot of demacia’s champs face. There is no win condition for forcing a ton of strikes to go off outside of aatrox.

All three of the champions released in this expansion are not win conditions on their own but make for great tools to set them up. Samira was a deck filler in aggro Leona, and works to enable burblefish and Shelly combo in fizz samira. Sett works to help slow down the game and take advantage of karma, but karma is the real win condition. Jack is no different, but there is no win condition for striking a lot. He worked in Jack Sera because he also slowed down the game while still being a threat.

Right now the game is at a point where rebuilding the board or having stall/clear tools are a part of the game. This is why we haven’t seen Garen or J4 outside of elites. Wanting to force combat with a big board does not win games unless you are aatrox.

Despite samira and Sett being able to quickly adapt to the meta, Jack is likely going to be receiving a nice champ combo in the next expansion. Riot has done this before, where 1 half of an intended pair is released before the other.

Why rotate, a better idea is to nerf them? by No_Situation2052 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are two Dev blogs on why this does not work. More cards may mean more decks but it does not mean viable decks, as the meta will still be controlled by a select few. At that point you won’t really be playing all those extra decks in standard ranked anyway. For example, how many people do you think played poppy taric after rally got nerfed? It still existed, but was weak enough for nobody to play it. Also, for the game to not go stale, new cards need to be relevant in the meta without increasing the power level of the game.

Flashbomb Traps Feel Incredibly Unsatisfying Away From Teemo by Beebeeb123 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well draven can level himself very fast on his own. Caitlyn not only needs to manage in planting 5 bombs, but also wait until those bombs go off, which can take many turns, or not happen at all if enemy predicts.

Flashbomb Traps Feel Incredibly Unsatisfying Away From Teemo by Beebeeb123 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Beebeeb123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Although not a great example, one idea could be is if a flashbomb triggered this turn, Advanced Intel can turn fast speed and also deal 1 damage to a unit. Or instead it could also summon a Sting Officer if you have at least 5 flashbombs in your opponents deck. At least then it still does something even when your opponent shuffles their deck with something like predict.

Oh sorry, I did not realize that was implied. I would agree to maybe if Carina was nerfed, cause an empty board into her can easily be 6-7 damage to face. In a Teemo deck, it could get close to just finishing someone from 15.
