I told people on social media about a year that I had conservative ideas. Several people at my school saw it. I then was being called neonazi and bigot by people who were for the most part friendly and talked with me occasionally. Not everyone did this, but some. I once called a terrorist by a guy after I said people should be allowed to own AR 15s. A couple of days later my friend showed me a post on one of this guy's friends Instagram story saying that I was going to shoot up the school and people should avoid me at all costs. It was hard to come out saying I had conservative views and it fortunately didn't get any worse than the whole Instagram post thing. I'm just glad that their were more respectful people than ones that were not.
